Re: LP12 Bounce
I had my LP12 on the jig a couple weeks ago and when finished took a video of the suspension from the point of view I have when adjusting it. It also plays well while giving it a light bounce while playing a record. You might not be able to see the movement but the suspension is still moving the du...

Re: LP12 Bounce
I have not heard of that one either. I'm not sure how accurate that is as the dynamics of the suspension are likely to be slightly different when the platter is not being powered by the motor/belt. My final test for the suspension is indeed to lightly bounce the suspension at the center of gravity ...

Re: Analogue man tries to master Spotify
I play entire albums on Spotify quite a bit and always look forward to what Spotify Ai throws at me music wise at the end of the album. I’ve been turned onto some great new artists as a result. It generally plays several songs and I usually let it go until silence occurs.

Re: The sound of LP12 plinths
Some things get better with age. We all know this to be a fact with instruments. I’m sure this applies to solid hardwoods LP12 plinths as well. My Afromosia plinth is going on 36 years old. Will have to pull out my 1959 Gibson LG-1 and give it a strum. https://theacousticguitarist.com/why-acoustic-g...

Re: Arm cable dressing
Sorry but I have to be contrarian here. When I took Linns courses in the LP12 and system installation in the early 90's, I was told that the arm cable orientation prevented rotational movement of the subchassis, exactly as Mr Pig has suggested in this thread. A proper arm dressing should both stop ...

Thanks Thomas for your comments, I wasn’t aware the collar was changed during the Akito lifecycle. Nice that all the Linn arms are now compatible with Keel.

Re: New Linn Launch 2022
I noticed the arm collar looks different on the Arko tonearm. It doesn’t extend into the hole in the armboard. I assume this maybe an improvement over what was used in previous Linn tonearms? I also assume a great percentage of Ekos SE users have Keels so don’t use the supplied arm collar. Arko unbo...

Re: Advice wanted: Water damage to LP collection
When catalogued most of my records using Discogs I replaced the plain paper inner sleeves with poly sleeves. Those with printed inner sleeves got a poly inner sleeve that fits nicely inside to original sleeve. I also at the same time placed them in polypropylene outer sleeves that have a sealable fl...

Re: Linn Kan 1 Setup
Charlie, are you aware that according to the late Julian Vereker, the mains filter in the Lingo adversely affects the performance of Naim amplifiers? It needs to be unplugged from the mains for this affect to go away. Does your other LP12 use a Valhalla? Maybe you can do a test.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I decided to replace my three year old Klyde with a newly rebuilt Goldring Asaka. I’ll put out a recording of the new cartridge and belt with some of the recent songs I’ve posted here for comparison. Sorry for the confusion. Hi John, if you want to do another clip together at some point when you ge...

.. I discovered what I thought was a new belt was actually one that was already used. So the recent recordings were all with old belts. ... I’ll put out a [new] recording... Sorry for the confusion. No problem. That's a new Linn belt, right, or are you still listening to the blue belt as well? Yes,...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Linn Belt comparison using Audacity. Can you tell which is older? There was something a little odd in both, but I found Belt 1 a little more agreeable... Belt 2 exaggerated the sense of awkwardness in the timing that made it less musical for me. And, to answer your question: unless it's the same '1...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I just stated what I felt - and in the end what counts is the individual joy we have. I have never heard the Technics or the Rega or the LP12 in real life in an apples to apples comparison. The only thing I know is all of these 3 draw a decent fangroup so there must be a reason for it. I see your t...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Think the whole P10 discussion could do with its own thread, ideally with clips as this seems off topic without, especially here, and a long way from John's Technics vs 'party of the 3rd parts' LP12. Your right on your many counts Tokenbrit, this sidestep has taken up too much bandwidth. And to Leg...
