Re: Melco S100 Network Switch

……….. Fredrik quote(d) that a switch can make things smoother... Wondering if the S100 has a signature that suits the song and I/we've been seduced by Melco. (no criticism of the clips or choice of song; just a poss limitation of online comparison vs extended in-home audition) This is what I’m wond...

Comparison Netgear GS 108Tv2 against Melco S100. Re: Melco S100 Network Switch

Thanks for participating so eagerly. I have now also listened to the clips. It is interesting that you can hear it so clearly and I am also clearly in favour of 2. 2 = Melco S100 So let's continue with Melco S100 vs Melco S100/Sbooster 1) https://www.dropbox.com/s/60wzik2clxtstrs/12.m4a?dl=0 2) htt...

Re: Melco S100 Network Switch

So there’s a preference for the Melco over the Netgear! Apart from the price, that’s great news.

Sorry to ask, but were we listening to both with their stock power supplies? And will we hear the Netgear + sBooster combo?

Maybe I’m wrong about the Klyde then, it was 30 years ago! I’ve certainly liked beck’s Klyde recordings.

Re: Melco S100 Network Switch

12/Lars seems more musical than the others.

EDIT: Eli7, you’ve changed the labels from numbers to names. Can you tell me what name corresponds with 12, or do I need to listen again?

Re: ThomasOK's System

My condolences. I've never had a dog, but recently many have been coming my way, and I now get that connection with man's best friend... so I feel for your loss. Yes, they really do make a great companion. We look after dogs for the Police and the last one was a black Lab, just like Bella. She’d be...

I can’t remember if I compared the Troika to the Asaka tbh. I remember not liking the Klyde though.

Re: Charlie1's System

I don’t know if it’s the influence of the G.Troika, but I really like the main system! It feels like you’ve managed to source some of the best components from the Linn/Naim golden era and put something together which has great synergy. Well done charlie1 👍

Re: Experience with Grado SR125e

Thanks Thomas. The PS500e’s seem to be very highly regarded all over the internet, except for one “reviewer” who said he couldn’t hear any difference between any of the models, from the 60’s up to the SR2’s! The less said about that, the better! How would you describe the difference between the 125e...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

The Troika has been my all time favourite cartridge, but on this occasion I’m preferring the Adikt. Yep, the GR-Troika is a bit flat, especially in the bass region. Not too much of an issue on these tracks but I can imagine some music will really suffer. Do you think it shares any attributes with t...

Re: Experience with Grado SR125e

I’ve had the 125’s for a week now, and tbh they’ve had very little use, mainly due to me being less than enthusiastic about their musical qualities. I’ve pulled them out occasionally and given them a quick listen, before disappointingly putting them away again. However, this weekend, the 125’s prese...

Re: Is that a Linn felt mat on Naims new turntable!?

Sorry guys, I’ve got to agree. Although not every post about the Naim turntable is negative, there’s still an underlying negativity towards a turntable no one has seen in the flesh, let alone heard. It smacks of fanboyism; something this forum has tried to avoid. A product stands on its merits, noth...

Re: LP12 Bounce

That’s a new one on me too, but let’s not reject it without trying it. It certainly makes sense, as does TOK’s method. What about playing a silent track and checking the bounce? I’ve always thought that the most important part of the bounce is “the last ounce of the bounce” - the micro bounce as the...
