Volumio Spotify vs. Desktop Spotify
TMV (or anyone else here), Have you compared the sound quality of Spotify on your HAKAI to a home computer running the standard Spotify app? I can do those clips Ron. Does it have to be the Spotify app on the computer or can I use a browser. Lego, Definitely the desktop app because it sounds much b...

Fair Auditions
I'm still interested in the Lingo 4, Radikal, Kore, Keel and Ekos SE, but I'm not sure how to audition them without a Karousel in a system more akin to mine (my CJ tube electronics vs the dealer's Naim electronics). Albert, How did you audition and compare all the Benz models to each other? I get t...

Heavier Upgrades
...there are certainly better places to upgrade your LP12. Albert, I third bypassing you upgrading your Benz phono cartridge. I could pass on my experience with Benz cartridges and denigrate them. However, it is far better to be positive and share my experience with source-first. First of all, wher...

Streaming vs. "Streaming"
I have not always been so good at reading the replies before asking more questions. Allan, I have already answered five of your seven questions asked in your post above (two items had two questions) at least once. I will answer the last item, then give you the advice you really need. 5. Can I use t...

Re: Would vs. Should vs. Guessing
I'd advise Allan not to get a Linn DS; it is not for him. He should first get the fastest cable at home, not a jury-rigged 4G arrangement. Then a Netgear GS108/Blue Jeans ethernet system. Then an Apple Mac mini, using the headphone out into the preamp. That will cost less than a Linn Akurate stream...

Would vs. Should vs. Guessing
1) As pointed out by Ran Tha Man, due to the technical arrangement with Linn's streaming technology you should get a better sound. Øyvind, I said, "My guess is it would improve,..." . This was in context of iPad/streamed over AppleTV/Unidisk DAC being bettered by an Akurate DS. Nothing I said shoul...

Switch to Spotify
I have always enjoyed listening to my LP12 and never embraced CD’s. John, Same here. The Spotify app on my Mac sounds better than any CD player I've had in my system. I have compared CDs in my Oppo BDP-105D to Spotify, using the Oppo as a DAC for the Mac. Spotify wins every time. When I compare the...

Play Fair on the Playground
It would be a good idea to find out what those factors are if you want your clips to stay relevant and interesting. SewerSleuth, I just listened to your "genuine" comparison and that is a smaller difference than your "trick" difference (of which 2 easily sounded better). Something is definitely wro...

Spec+ Analog Disc Sheet AP-UD1 vs. Felt
SewerSleuth, Thank you for posting these comparisons. Several members here appear defensive that their preferred recording method or mat are challenged. I say bring it on. If the Spec+ Analog Disc Sheet AP-UD1 is better than a stock Linn felt mat, what is the problem? Source-first rules; I'd rather ...
Shim-Sham
The shim is for the Karousel, not the platter. SewerSleuth, If you are writing at me, it appears you didn't fully read my post. Your biggest complaint was the gap on the top of the platters. This shim doesn't correct that. This shim isn't just for the Karousel. When I was a Linn dealer in the 1980s...
Shimmy and Shake
It's arrived. Pretty simple really, with a sticky reverse side. Hmmm. I misunderstood. I thought the "spacer" was going to rest on top of the inner platter (under the felt mat) to negate the few millimeter difference. Instead it lowers the entire platter system. This means you will need to lower th...

Re: Apple TV to Akurate DS
I am currently streaming Spotify from my iPad to my Linn system using an Apple TV connected to a Unidisk SC (via an optic cable). I am considering upgrading to a Akurate DS/0. My questions are: 1. Will this improve the sound? 2. How do I set it up. Do I have to run an ethernet cable from the Akurat...

Hermanns System
Hermann, Nevermind about my previous comments; it is very difficult speaking with you. I speak Detroit slang and you speak German translated Queen's English. If what I gathered is correct, you bought late Isobariks. You modified them to accept Falcon crossovers. You realized this was a mistake after...

Information Withheld?
Hermann, I have been following your hi-fi journey online since 1997 or '98. You have been interesting (including on this thread). However, it seems you've been withholding pertinent information. Is it true you abandoned the "in-stand" stock 4Ω Linn crossover, original to your Isobariks, in favor of ...

Trudging Through The Tundra
A Tundra Stereo amp 2.5 is playing in my system for two days now. - What is the musical difference between the stereo amp and the monos? - Is there a "better", a "more musical" somehow audible with the monos? - After all, the monos are offered at twice the price of the stereo. Is there any added va...

Thanks again Ron for sharing. Great playlist, added quite a few to my own! John, The reason I did it was because of the music you've turned me on to. John, This is my first time doing this; here’s a link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/51IhgzTh4Xzgngc1spfXCy?si=tpgZ76s0RDKh5nCO6Cp5CA Right now searching "Ron The Mon" on Spotify shows nothing. Good Sound Quality
Ron, Do you have any public Spotify playlists? Alway enjoyed your music recommendations. John, I do now, as of five minutes ago. Search "Ron The Mon" on Spotify with capital R, T, & M; there is a photo of my LP12. If I did everything right, you should see a playlist called "Good Sound Quality". It'...

Proper SBL Setup
"I did check the bass units and they return to position smoothly and slightly slowly when pushed in and let go" That is a useful test to check if the seals are intact but that is rarely a problem. Unfortunately it doesn't test the the spike interface. This is a very important part of the correct op...

I have some questions with respect to mounting a Krystal MC to an Ekos SE/1 I know there is less room for doing something wrong with the 3 screw mount but does the Krystal need to be pushed in one or the other direction to have the perfect geometry in case no protractor available? I have two types ...

Shitbata Experience
Having had Ania on my Rega P7, for reasons I just changed to my spare AT-VM95E. It's as expected, quite good; looking at the asking price it's a bargain. Makes me wonder how the higher Audio Technica perform. I've had OC9 years back and it was horrible. Well I was thinking more in region of a VM750...
