I got really excited seeing this thinking there was now an app for stylus tracking force.

Tom, Thanks for a very informative post. I will respond later as I don't have three hours to reply to all you wrote!! I haven't had a chance to play with an AT VM95 series yet, in part since Ron insists on playing with his one on his own. ;-) Now I know what to get you for Christmas (along with extr...

Tiny Dancer
Great clips Ron. It works. Easy to hear the differences. On balance I personally prefer the before clip (steel mounted cartridge is my guess). Listening as a musician I hear a tighter rhythm section. beck, Long ago, you invited me into your "playground" and we always have fun; thanks for that. I'm ...

Isobarik Torques?
[...] My hi-fi has improved by a very large degree just torquing my Isobarik drivers. [...] Ron The Mon May I ask for the values that you have set? I'm playing actually with different values... Hermann, Like you, my "playing" is a slow and steady process! I first became aware of "torquing" from Roy...

Fredrik Lejonklou is correct; setting your phono stage as loud as possible before audible distortion will result in best performance. I didn't say that... Fredrik, I agreed with Cobra Dave, adding you were correct; I will be more careful in my framing of words. ...There are two ways to decrease the...

AT-VM95 Torque Settings
Has anyone else experimented with torque settings on this cartridge body? I have come to the same conclusion as posted by Tom O'Keefe and Fredrik Lejonklou here; the Sturtevant Richmont CAL 36/4 is the best tool for the job. Like many here, I had trouble at first finding one at a decent price. Then ...

AT95 vs. AT-VM95 pickup?
Cobra Dave, Are you currently talking about your Axis with AT95E or your new LP12 with AT-VM95E? The older AT95E body (for over 30 years) has an output of 3.5mv. The new AT-VM95E (for past 13 months) has an output of 4.0mv. If you are talking about the older version, be prepared for a shock when the...

Cobra Dave Confusion
...using an LP12 with an Axis platter, which is aluminium and much lighter than the zamak used for the LP12, doesn't sound like a great idea to me. Fredrik, When the Linn Axis was brand new, I was setting up an LP12 and wondered if an Axis outer platter would even work on an LP12 (and if it could p...

Cobra Dave Confusion
I think I was a bit unclear. The two option are: 1) Majik LP12, Ittok, Addikt Or 2) Same Majik LP 12, but with Akito, AT95, silver T-cable instead (but this option is more expensive, so I got offered to trade in my Linn Axis, Basik LV X, AT95) to be able to get the two options at the same price. Co...

Krystalized Suspension of Disbelief
I too find it suspicious. I hope Lejonklou or ThomasOK can help you with a more solid answer..... beck, I don't find it suspicious because I just did the the exact same demo Charlie1 did in his video. Does anyone have specific measurements of fulcrum point to needle measurements of Krystal to AT? I...

Krystal Suspension
Perhaps I'm imagining it but the needle on my Krystal seems to move more than I recall it doing when it lands on the vinyl. It's less than 1mm movement but at least 0.5mm. My AT VM95 styluses don't move as much. Does this sound like it might have failed or be in the process of failing? It's 16 mont...

Cobra Dave’s Upgrade Path
What is your take on the current entry level Majik LP12 with ‘Lenco’ tonearm, compared to a vintage LP12 that can be bought with Ittok, or even Ekos mark II for less money? In general I prefer new before second hand, but I don’t like the power button on the Majik LP12, and Akito/Ittok/Ekos looks be...

Torque=Twisting Force
There shouldn't be a problem adjusting the counterweight with the arm in place. The rubber on some is tighter than on others but it should still be safe. For one thing you have a much shorter lever to the bearings so the force isn't multiplied as much. Tom, You told me when you drove out to Colorad...

I first read of Blue Jeans Cable many years ago before joining the Lejonklou forum. On this forum I have been surprised to have never read about them until the HAKAI project was posted. I have never used any Blue Jeans Cable products or services but what interests me was they are one of the very few...
Before and After
Before After I'm not sure it'll help much. I did my best to make them the same except for the internal change but variables increase when you screw it up the first time. New Official Linn LP12 Belts
I just received a new package of 6 LP12 belts from Linn and they appear to have gone back to the old style belts. This batch are thinner and smoother, especially on the rough side, than the belts they have been shipping for about a year. As I found the thicker, rougher belts to be less musical I am...

The Mighty AT-VM95C
Quick update now I've lived with the E, EN and C a lot more - they are definitely all run in and I can happily live with any of them. I'm particularly fond of the C. It has great rhythm and timing - really snappy and punchy. If you listen to mostly simple rock / pop then this could be the best cart...
