Hi Ron!
I would start just below 1 Nm and gradually increase. Most sub drivers end up between 1 and 1.5 Nm, a few above 1.5.

Re: correct myself
What do you suggest; that you make the comparisons for me or that I pretend someone else built the proto? :lol:anthony wrote:Its much easier to evaluate someone elses system or equipment, than your own!

On Linn arms, the arm cable has an extra lead going out from the DIN plug that goes into the base of the arm. This lead carries the ground from arm to subchassie. I'd try replicating that connection, after measuring that the ground wire of your arm really connects to the metal of the arm (and perhap...

Re: correct myself
Thank you for the update, Klaus. Your findings matches mine. Please note, however, that tonearms with a slot in the pillar always seem to require a higher torque than those without a slot. I'm convinced test listening is an art and it takes much time to learn it properly. What has taken me a lot of ...

Hi manfred and welcome to the forum! If your active speakers have a balanced input, it's easy to get the signal phase correct. Kikkin has an unbalanced output (phono connectors). The two cables from Kikkin to active speakers therefore need to be phono to XLR. Inside the XLR, the signal from Kikkin s...

I agree that the 2250 is better than Klout. But 2250 is also a bit coloured in sound, which becomes evident when listening to a x100 or x200 amp. I would choose one of them rather than any of the old models. Also note that apart from aktiv cards, you'll have BFA outputs on the 2250. That may seem li...

Hi Sondekker and welcome to the forum! The parts you mention are too unknown for me to give any useful advice without "being there". The only thing I'd like to point out is that correct grounding is important to sound quality, regardless of whether one has a hum problem or not. So even if you've nev...

The 2200 is a LOT better than the 2250. If you want to compare old with new, the 2250 is in the same region as 2100 (the two channel amp in the Majik range) in terms of sound quality. I prefer 2100, but the 2250 can play louder. I don't think Linn has ever designed any fans, so I'm certain the shape...

What experience does the group have when adding subs regarding the positioning of the main speakers? Hope that leaving them in present position is the way to go. I'd say yes, the optimal position of your main speakers without sub will not change when you add a sub. The main interacting element with...

Thanks for the report, Charlie! I've been wondering about that comparison, too. I still haven't personally made any before/after Vidar comparisons. Sooner or later I'm going to try a Vidar treatment on one of my older Silvers. If my second best pair becomes better after treatment than my best pair, ...
Cool that you found it eventually, Charlie! Laughing Stock is taking the music another step away from Colour of Spring, if you understand what I mean. Not sure if I like it more than Spirit of Eden. A friend of mine says he finds it unbearable, as if they're about to fall apart, break into pieces. I...

Thanks Charlie! No, never compared Corras to Lack. The construction is rather similar, but I noticed that the extra loose shelves you can install in the Corras don't sound as good as the bottom or top shelf. I remember the bottom and top also sounded different, but right now I can't recall which was...

according to the tune method a piece of equipment is better, if its easier to follow the tune eG the rhythm or melodic line of certain instruments; I'm not really sure what you mean by "certain instruments". Thanks for your continued reports, Klaus. My gut feeling is that replacing the wood screws with machine screws can only be an improvement. As you say, the steep thread angle of wood screws make them hopeless for torque tightening. The new ground point you've created is something I'd evaluate indepen...

My standard M5 nuts are set now to 0.8 Nm which is better than 0.9. Sounds right to me! That's about where I set mine. I made a small extra tool to be able to observe this, and also to recognize when a nut starts to turn. A piece of PostIt paper attached to the LP12 cross brace served as the indica...
