Re: Slipsik 6

Fredrik may correct me on this but I believe the Slipsik has a floating ground, so its audio circuit will not connect the ND5 to ground. The Slipsik prefers to be connected to a preamp or amp that has a true ground, otherwise you might get some hum. So I believe you are likely best off to leave the...

Re: Slipsik 6

My new ND5 XS 2 has a ground switch on the rear (with 2 positions, default and floating) . According to the quick start guide, " select the default position unless the unit is connected in a hi-fi system incorporating another earthed source component or mains hum is audible through the loudspeakers ...

Re: Urika II

In the early 2017, I was at my dealer and tried for a couple of hours my LP12 into a properly set entry level Exakt system (MDSM/2, MExaktbox-I and M140) and I was impressed but ... it was digital. If I would maximize my digital source, I'd invest on a KDS/3 or a ND555. A digitalized vinyl is not my...

Re: Linn Majik 109 and the competition

I take the point on "source first," but I assume the reason that Linn (for example) makes more expensive standmount speakers is that there is a limit to that proposition. In any event, my main issue with the Linn Majik 109s is that I can't quite get enough bass extension from them, and would prefer...

Re: Adikt worn-out?

Most likely the stylus is worn out, that is a reasonable number of hours for an Adikt. The other possibility is that the stylus has some gunk on it. But if you clean it with green paper and it still sounds that way you should get yourself a new stylus. Thanks Thomas I clean it regularly with green ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Here are the two same clips but sent directly to Dropbox. I found a number of people on the web have had problems with this. It turns out there are at least three ways to do the transfer but the two most obvious didn't work. However a third way did. There is a significant story to go along with thi...

Adikt worn-out?

Hi

After 4 years and about 1,800 hours, I think that my Adikt is close to the end.

The sound became harsh and with a lot of sibilances, my modest Cambridge CXN is now a lot better than the LP12 to listen to.

Is the cartridge worn-out?

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Just ordered from Paolo a pair of 5mt of Linn K20 with Knekt bananas. Nac a5 in Italy is 47€/mt unterminated, really a rip-off. K20 are a lot cheap in comparison. M. K20 arrived 4 days ago. First impressions are very positive. To speed-up the run-in period, I listened to sat radio via Sky into my C...

Re: Majik LP12 update with new tonearm

Yes, that is correct, same materials, different feet. Just make sure you keep the Trampolin 2 so you can put it back on after you've tried the Solid Base. Also if you have a Radikal it is important to make sure the motor casing is not in contact with the ring of the Trampolin foot in that corner or...

Re: Majik LP12 update with new tonearm

Your comment that you are going to "get a solid base for the Trampolin 2" has me a bit confused. The Solid Base is something that you would use in place of the Trampolin 2, not along with it. It is basically a Trampolin 2 without the compliant feet - same damped aluminum construction with a ground ...

Re: Majik LP12 update with new tonearm

We'll have to see what they actually come with. If they were going to upgrade the table beyond the arm I would like to have seen them include the Trampolin 2. I still don't understand why they don't automatically include it. According to the Linn official website, solid base seems to be ideal " for...

My AR is of Spring 2016.

"Free" and "Jesus" are epic tracks.

Re: Ekos SE/1 w/Kore

You can't really go wrong either way can you - as both options are at the top of the Linn ladder. I've not heard the Akurate to Klimax Radikal improvement, and perhaps that's why I have a feeling that, in your shoes, I'd put material ownership above musical involvement. I think the pull of owning a...

Re: Majik 109 Modification

Those look good and fairly inexpensive. The primeacoustics are heavy with a metal plate in it. The ones you are looking at look like they may only be foam? Also, the PA come in angled versions which may compensate for the thickness? Yes, only foam The angled version of the PA are still too height. M.
