Re: How to clean vinyl records

I've bought multiple ones branded by audio companies, music stores etc. Cosmetically they're identical to the ones sold on Aliexpress. The price difference of less than £5 to £15 is a no brainer for a Scot - I know where Ivor would go ;-)

Re: How to clean vinyl records

The same record brush can be bought on Aliexpress for around £4. Some vinyl accessories on there bring back memories from the early 80s (sorbothane record cleaning roller - I had one).

Re: Karousel

I didnt know any of that. So there is not always a single mono and stereo master either. I have a couple of copies but don't think either is mono. Do you prefer that version? I love both but the stereo and mono masters often sound like different sessions. The mono versions of the Dylan albums sound...

Re: Silver analogue interconnect

No new experience. The original versions seem like money well spent 20+ years later.

Changing my two LK140s to daisy change produced a noticeable improvement.

Re: Karousel

Even when the masters are held by the record label, sometimes they have lost the in house knowledge and don't know what the master is. Sometimes the tapes labelled master are no such thing. There's a great story on the Steve Hoffman website where the record label kept sending him what they thought ...

Felt and other mats available on Aliexpress from £1. May be worth a look.

I can't get over how much difference the felt makes. Without getting into which is better, just the difference between them both. Wierd. Having said that, I listened again and still think D is better 😁

Re: Playground for blind tests

So this was my first try with blind tests. Just done in a hurry. To spell it out there is no right or wrong. What you hear is what you hear. Some things clips are not good at showing and some they are good at. It is all about what you find most musical. We can see if there is consensus or not. Clip...

I know. Used BubbleUpnp for a while before moving to HiFi Cast.

BubbleUpnp seemed to be stuck in time for a while before the introduction of DS.

I've tried Hifi Cast, Kazoo, BubbleUpnp, BubbleDS I have settled on BubbleDS as my main control on my android mobile and my wife uses it for the streamer in her art studio. Re: LP 12 felt mat care

No idea, I never changed mine.

I own an original sorbothane platter matter from the 80s. Seems too heavy to use.

Defender - the supplier should have given you a replacement. The original fault seems to have been inadequate packaging.

Re: Karousel

The Karousel deck sounded more cohesive to me. It's a point when I stop paying attention to the parts and just experience the whole. I didn't have that experience with the Valhalla deck. I've been thinking though that something is not strictly right with our use of recordings of audio playback as a...

I do like Stevie's drumming at the beginning - very simple but the man's got rhythm - duh, who would have figured!

Record is a bit warped but seems to play ok.
Stevie's a genius!

Did you both attend the demo? Good grief no. We take Covid-19 seriously here Spannko. I've seen my teenager once since March. Two city trips since the end of shielding. Fredrik mentioned somewhere about the relationship between music and his soul. It's been very similar for me through this pandemic...

Re: CIRKUS Vs KAROUSEL TAKE 2 (See Results)

You went for a dem and didn’t take notice of what you were listening to? Hmm. It would have been helpful if you did! Since that’s the worst performance I’ve heard from a Cirkus, I’d say there was something wrong with the setup. I’ve never heard an lp12 mess the music up so badly, even badly set up ...

I'm not confused at all. That's because you're a true enthusiast! I have pm's from people who thinks it's all very confusing and a bit off-putting with the lack of information of what we're comparing, etc. You were not even confused by Karousel being both A and B? I am an enthusiast - guilty! No to...
