Re: Karousel

I tried not to make a snap decision: B raised my temperature more than A, which just didn't click for me... Actually it clicked a bit too much pushing the percussion forward, losing touch with the voice a little. I usually hear clips differently to beck and Charlie1 - not deliberately - so this resu...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I missed the clips - what's the answer to the (out of date) question: is k20 single-wired (in the right direction ;) as good or better than k400 bi-wire? Did you try different configurations with the single-wired k20 connections at the speakers? And, if you do find single-wired to be better, as othe...

Re: HAKAI Build Help?

"Let's deal in facts", you say, as if I wasn't?!? That was why I asked what the criteria was for ranking the cases, but which went unanswered. The Node 202 is designed for an SFX power supply - that it was set up and compared using a Pico power supply is a detail, or fact, that wasn't made clear. If...

Re: 4100 only 2 channels

Definitely. The four channels will sound different so pick the best two. I went through the same learning process with the same results: Bi-amp to 2-channel: better Bi-wire to single: better again Best 2 channels: as good as it was going to get with my 4200 Of course there was a next step: 2 channe...

It's at least somewhat dependent: the Node 202 accommodates an SFX power supply; the Streacom case uses a 'picoPSU' board with an external supply/adapter...

Curious what criteria determine top in this case (no pun intended ;) and what PSU in the FD establishes that ranking.

I agree and to follow my own logic above hearing the recording limitations includes the imprint (distortion) of the microphones and amps used.
But how do you know that it's recording distortion you're hearing, and not playback distortion? 🤔

Both clips sounded very good. I just felt closer to the clam bake with B... 😋

Good to know - glad it's more stable. I still need to find a spare drive to try Volumio against upmpdcli/mpd on Buster - don't want to lose mpd 21.11… After that I can worry about the NAS and network share vs. media server, as well as Buster vs. Win 10

Re: Windows 10 music server stoppages

If you are using control points, I figure you are using a media server on the (LS)NAS rather than letting Volumio connect via a network file share... If so, what media server did you use on Debian, and which one are you using on Win10: Asset, MinimServer, other? I've seen that Simon @ MinimServer is...

Re: Windows 10 music server stoppages

Since you've checked Win settings, have you checked the BIOS to see if there's anything in those settings that might cause the stoppages; maybe energy saving or disk management? Alternatively, have you tried different media server software to try to eliminate possible causes?

Thanks for sharing, FJ. Hopefully you won't mind me asking some questions: How do you get a copy of the "original version of Volumio that was recommended"? Thanks Fredrik. Those of you running Debian (Buster) / Hakai, do you update / upgrade your OS regularly? If so, have you installed the latest kernel? Or do you leave well alone if it works? Curious if you've upgraded and noticed a change in musicality for better or worse... Those using SnakeOil presumably get updat...
