Re: Kikkin into Mdsm/3
Yes, it will work just fine. I'm not going into another preamp so I have the pre-amp outputs adjustable but this feeds active speakers and all inputs work through the system. As stefan mentions you would want to set the pre-out to fixed which will also disable the internal volume control and keep th...

Re: Opinion LINN LINGO1 v, LINN LINGO 2,3
I thought the Lingo 2 was a significant step up from the Lingo 1. The Lingo 3 is just a Lingo 2 board in a different case and I felt they basically sounded the same. Lingo 4 is a completely different design with a different motor and I feel it is a substantial step up musically from all previous Lin...

They seem pretty close but I'll go for 2. 1 seems to be softening things up a little.

Re: Pete's System
I came across a suggestion on Beck's thread to try placing cables on a sheepskin rug. Happily my wife has a sheepskin rug which I borrowed to support the power cables. Unhappily, my wife was quick to spot the theft and is unimpressed. Even worse, to my ears it makes an improvement and now I don't w...

SOLD: Lejonklou Sagatun stereo 1.4
I am selling a Sagatun stereo 1.4 for a customer who upgraded to Sagatun Monos. It is in perfect running condition and at least excellent physically. I haven't taken photos yet but can if someone wants to see them. Original box, packing, US power cable and remote control all included. Sold for $2300...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I had to go back and forth several times on these two clips. At first I was drawn to the Kans as they have a punchy sound on the drums and vocals that does propel the sound. But on going back and forth I felt that the 109s were more even with the strings coming through more naturally (tunefully) ins...

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?
Thanks, Thomas. Is this the Quadraspire you're referring to? https://quadraspire.co.uk/wall-brackets/ Do you have access to second examples of your preferred shelves ? if not, how far into 2024 will the wait be for your recreation and what's the approximate price point? I was referring to the Evo 4...

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?
The best wall shelf I am aware of is the long-discontinued AudioTech one (I believe Archidee made essentially the same one for a while). For a little while TigerPaw made a unit based on the same design a few years back but they also stopped trading a while ago. I have customers using the Quadraspire...

Re: Utopik upgrade
I added a Utopik to my ADS Kat about a month ago. It is a very worthwhile upgrade - at least as big as when I upgraded to the Katalyst board. So regardless of pricing debates, it is well worth doing. The sound is more like music - another step towards having a band in the room. Don't expect immedia...

Re: Utopik upgrade
I'd be rather shocked if the Utopik didn't come out for the Radikal, indeed I'm surprised it hasn't already since it is one of the smaller power supplies. Dynamik certainly made a substantial upgrade to the musical performance of the Radikal so it is to be expected the Utopik will too. But I would g...

Re: A Newbie looking for suggestions
I don't know what fees are like on electronics but I have been reading about negotiations between Tesla and India on Tesla cars. Tesla is considering the idea of putting a factory in India and also factories for supplies like batteries. But they need to see if there is enough of a market there for i...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Since 666F to 668F takes you from 352.2C to 353.3C you have three F temperatures in the range of two C so it wouldn't seem to work if they were rounding to the nearest temperature form some internal reference. Plus if it is just a readout you'd think it would be easy to change. So I'm betting that y...

Re: A Newbie looking for suggestions
Hi and welcome to the forum, 1. I'm convinced the Entity will easily be more musical than the Rega Fono. 2. I don't see any reason, why the AR wouldn't work well with Entity and Källa. In fact, I'm sure you'll be surprised by how good it sounds with those components connected. 3. If you cannot find...

Re: What causes high capacity in MM?
Ah, right, thanks for correcting me. Had a look back at the Naim forum and this is what I was thinking of, "The RIAA EQ of the Nait one was replicated in the new circuit." and "I copied the 0.15dB 40Hz bump in the RIAA frequency response from the Nait 1 to give it the same character. Technically th...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I'm late to the party and I have to agree with many that the two were close and I had to go back and forth several times to be sure of what I was hearing. That said I preferred 353 as I felt it had a better flow. At first I thought it had a weird muted second note on the sax but then found it was on...

Re: Record player for daughter
Just a recommendation to be careful when putting a turntable on top of an amplifier. The transformer used in most of these amplifiers generates a substantial magnetic field. If it happens to be on the side where the tonearm is you will likely get some hum injected into the music. Putting them side b...

Mine is also at 4.0.2. I believe I updated it a few weeks ago when it showed update available on the front panel. I think I have updated it 3 or 4 times since I bought them and I can't say I've noticed any musical difference.

Re: Playing FLAC
I know what you mean about that. At the Axpona show we had the Källa and a cellular WiFi streamer. We were able to get quite musical sound out of the system on setup day but once the show started we couldn't get it to play without it dropping out regularly. My best guess is that the amount of cellul...

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary
A video of an interview with Frank Murray, the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Linn in which he explains some of the design ideas behind the LP12-50. I note that the new Linn mantra of "eliminating noise and distortion" is present in this video as it has been in interviews with Gilad. It also exp...

Well, Rutger, you are bringing back some memories with that list and it also makes what I was doing in 1984 look pretty good. That year I started my own Hi-Fi store in Encinitas, California with some help from Audiophile Systems (the Linn and Naim importer I worked at as National Sales Manager just ...

I prefer E on all three of them. I had the hardest time on the 2 clips but even there her voice sounded more natural and things seemed more together. On 1 the whole thing just sounded wrong on D but good on E such that I am still listening to it as I type. On 3/4 I also noticed the overblown sax on ...
