Re: Video about 10 iconic turntables.

Interesting reading of my thinking, using your psychic powers or just projection? It would seem to me that lindsayt's post was at least as questioning as mine. Note that he mentioned being bored by 5:40 mark. If there is anything I am upset about it is not his choice of turntable, that is up to him...

Re: Video about 10 iconic turntables.

Just watched it. Oh, boy! Part 2 - why did he buy it? Oh, it's because it has all this cool tech in it that the guys at Rega showed him and explained so it must be a great turntable. He almost bought an LP12 but then changed his mind. After all Linn certainly hasn't experimented with different mate...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Pretty huge to me Charlie, that whole opening on that U2 track was full of drama and sucked me in -and those battling "different" power guitar chords, wow. I understood better the musical intentions of the track on the serviced Kans, definitely moving along in the right direction IMO Charlie. The un...

Re: Video about 10 iconic turntables.

The current Rega Planar 10 I don't have any experience with as we haven't sold any yet. I did get a listen to the predecessor, the RP10 and I would still choose the original Majik LP12 over it. But there are many changes to the new P10 so who knows? You say " The current Rega Planar 10 I don't have...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks for all your positive feedback, gentlemen! It really helps to know that I’m broadly heading in the right direction. I’m going to tweak the speaker and post another video before maybe experimenting with an isobaric bass arrangement. I’ve no idea how it’ll sound, but there’s only one way to fi...

Higher:

"Higher" seems to have the edge IMO.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Very interesting Frederik, but in reality is it realistic to think that a capacitors tolerance considering time, temperature & usage can retain such a tight 1 ohm sweet spot for any reasonable duration? And then what happens when -over some relatively short period of time, say 6 months? ...if that?...

Re: Turning things off improve your music?

Always helps if you can run a dedicated AC cable from the mains panel to the stereo if possible.. Agreed, I always prefer listening to music late at night, also in the cooler months when all the air conditioners are not running all day and night. That just never worked for me. It started as a pair ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I have tried one piece variants (similar but not identical to your image), but two washers was always better. They should have their flatter sides against one another (which likely makes the contact area against the case smaller in practice than 1.3 mm2). An interesting detail is that the smaller w...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Just wish I could get hold of the same rubber feet Fredrik is using under his amps… Below my big cases, they need a big washer that supports the entire top surface of the foot and a small washer that makes a contact surface area against the case of 1.3 mm2. The rubber foot alone doesn't sound nearl...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

"A" is hugely different tune wise, actually I'm a little surprised how one of these clips can move me musically and the other not, especially considering the fact that they are so similar "sound" wise, so "A" for me. The is actually one of the clearest demos someone has posted here that clearly conv...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Well, I wish I could afford a rack by Harmonihyllan, but I can’t. So I have to make the best of my Quadraspire rack. I guarantee you, it’s simply no competition at all between using just the Quadraspire and using it with the additional Baltic birch board on the Mini Spikes. I agree, that it may "so...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

By comparison the band in (2) sounded like a mess & after about 20 seconds I lost interest after the song settled in -perhaps a hyped later remaster?-, but ultimately all sparkle & Hi-Fi, but no tune. Actually it’s about as far from a remaster as you can get. It’s a 2-eye Columbia US original, Pitm...

Somehow I cannot get my recordings to sound as clear as they are in the room, but anyway, here we go with another comparison.
