Re: Akudorik

Better sounding with what amplification? Same amplifier(s) for both types of speakers... I think I'm missing something here. Active were the Exakt ones with (presumably) Akurate Exaktbox 6 or similar and 4x100W Chakra. So are we comparing that with passive Akudoriks with Akurate Exaktbox 6 and 2xC4...

Re: Akudorik

Most people might elect to hang onto these speakers, instead of selling them. I've been told by a few people the passive Akudoriks were better sounding than the active version, although both sounded really good. Here is a review conducted by What Hi-Fi in 2015, and they give the Akudoriks a five st...

Interesting information Arjen, glad everything went well for you. Out of curiosity, I looked up the "damping of Lenco turntables" and found this topic on a forum...including some pictures as well...(see link below) https://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=p5olp7ia2gd5vmpetcc7rovsu0&topi...

Sad to see such a good speaker as the Akudorik being discontinued altogether. Glad that I got my passive Akubariks in time, you very rarely see any (nor the passive Akudoriks) for sale anymore. Most people might elect to hang onto these speakers, instead of selling them. I've been told by a few peo...

Re: Latest records to enter your collection

Ah, you picked up the Gillian Welch recordings! They are great musically and wonderful recordings. A bunch of other goodies too, have fun! Thanks for the recommendations Thomas. The record shop owner said the same thing about the recording quality of "All Of The Good Times Are Past And Gone." She s...

That's certainly good news (and a good deal) for North America. A much better sounding MM phono stage for the same price as the previous MM phono stage.

A good opportunity indeed. But I hope you're safe and don't have to worry. Thank you Hermann, we did stay safe but had a ton of shoveling to do for several days (3 inches of ice, and 9 inches of snow). We're making arrangements for a few listening sessions with friends soon, they want to hear the n...

Re: Hermanns System

There's a lot to say about R/2 and Ekstatik and I think you know what I mean. Today, for example, the thought of endless discussions came up to what extent a sound image can be perceived outside of loudspeakers. So far I only had this with the briks and at times the effect was lost and only partial...

Good morning Lingomatik, I no longer have the Urika 1, or the Radikal 1, or Klimax Kontrol. And my Radikal 2 is being used with the Entity 1.1 phono stage and Sagatun 1.4 stereo preamplifier. However, there's never been a loud bang coming from the speaker with any of my system combinations. Could th...

I'm glad your new upgrades are sounding great Hermann, and they will continue to improve for awhile as well. It's interesting to hear about your Isobarik speakers, that's been my experience too. With every improvement of the turntable and frontend components, the speakers continue to improve also. E...

I think it will take awhile for the cartridge to fully burn in, but is does continue to improve slowly. And we are very happy with the progress. Apparently we're suppose to get hit with a real bad winter storm for the next couple of days, so we'll just sit back and enjoy the LP12 until the thaw...

Re: Tony Tune-age System

By the way, I never gave any thought about how the Linn felt mat sounded, until Thomas gave a demonstration of which side sounded best, and how much better a thinner mat sounded than a thicker mat . Crazy stuff for sure, but legitimate nonetheless. Regarding the new mat, the difference of both site...

Re: Radikal/2 experiences

That's correct. But I also think the regulation of the motor is linear, which means more weight, longer stabilisation time. With the last 4 records the LED did not even twitch, it remained dimmed. That's a good point Hermann, and I'm sure Thomas will be able to provide more details as well. I have ...

Re: Radikal/2 experiences

Hi Tony, thank you. I am also surprised that it makes no difference in terms of dimming time whether a 200gr record or a 120gr record is used. I think it takes a little more time to achieve proper platter rotation now. The new motor and censor are way more accurate and precise, than the previous pa...

Re: Radikal/2 experiences

I'm opening this thread for the Radial/2 because some of the behaviour has changed compared to the old one. The LED as an indicator for stable running sometimes takes much longer. And the behaviour is sporadic. My dealer pointed it out, but it seems strange to me. Sometimes the LED dims immediately...

By the way Thomas, the LP12 noise level has gotten even lower with the Klimax Radikal 2 upgrade. And the timing is more precise as well.
