Re: Cobra Dave’s system

Source first! Don’t spend money on upgrading your axis, get an LP and start there. My first hifi gear was an Axis, had it for almost 20 years and then got a preowned LP12. It was a big step up. With time I changed Valhalla to Lingo1 and a few years ago A-radikal. Tone arm was first the one from my a...

Re: Playlist

https://www.discogs.com/Nine-Inch-Nails-The-Downward-Spiral/release/10672744 A record that I still love 25 years later :) Indeed! It took a long time to come out on vinyl. But my favorite is still Pretty Hate Machine. Everything on it is exceptional and Something I Can Never Have is a masterwork of...

Re: Slipsik 7

Yesterday at a demo evening at Toläget I got a reminder of how great the slipsik7 is. Anders played Rega Elex-R with internal riaa vs Gaio2, Gaio2 bettered the Rega. After that it was Boazo with Gaio vs Rega and Gaio. Boazo was just simply better, maybe not a surprise and to a x2,5 price. Next battl...

Re: M140 to Akudorik upgrade advise

Have nothing bad to say about akudorik, had my pair for 3 years (I think).
If you have the possibility to try them passive, single amp preferably tundra monos;) and compare to exakt you should give that a try!

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I'm leaning towards the first two, at 29. The problem, I think, is that you've changed both distances at the same time. The distance from the rear wall and the distance apart do not affect each other and should therefore be judged one at a time. That makes everything much easier. 4 cm is also a ver...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

After a number of different speaker positions I decided its time to post new clips. Kaos did his best to steal my seat, again. My wife would just not let me listen to music, she wanted to test more = I had to do all the work :P First same position as before, 29 cm from back wall: https://photos.smug...

Re: A little Linn news

As the akubarik and akudoriks continue in exakt form, consisting of same cabinets and drive units, I cannot really see how keeping them would cost Linn much. Maybe the passive version can (and do) outperform the exakt version with non Linn amps? @ThomasOK: Good news then about the belts! Have you h...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

To me you have found your “magical” spot with the speakers (29 cm). And nice looking wall now! :-) Had to do something with that ugly wall and using it as a play list felt like a nice touch :) Amazing what 5mm will do. Agree with beck that 29cm is the better of these two... Did you try any further ...

Kaos is a wise cat. Cat Power ;) Kaos theory - 2nd set; "2 cm change in position" for me, thanks :) Less convinced after listening on my phone, rather than my laptop, but not enough to change my vote... Maybe another, better, speaker position lurking somewhere? I started working on that, but got st...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Some friendly tips when making comparative clips: • Film or record from the exact same position each time. • Try keeping the volume identical each time. • It's much easier comparing two clips than three or more. More than two decreases certainty, simplicity and participation. • If using a phone, qu...
