Re: Harmonihyllan

I posted this in another related thread but felt I should post it here as well. Although I had previously mentioned finding I preferred damping pads cut from the foam in Linn Trampolin boxes to the fiberfill pads supplied with the Reference K bottom by Harmonihyllan, I have recently had reason to re...

Re: An evening of listening to racks and things digital

Tom, getting back to the racking. Why not put a Mimer K shelf under every peice of kit. Surely this would just explode the capabilites? Hi Flat, I didn't realize I never answered this. Yes, I believe Mimer Ks under everything is musically the ideal way to go. I wasn't sure for a while if there was ...

Here are a couple more clips you might all enjoy: Warning! Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics! (You might not want young children in the room when you play these.) Warning 2! Loud, raucous rock! You might want to watch your levels. https://www.dropbox.com/s/64tfct6eugphg4j/Video%20Apr%2024%2C%204%20...

Re: My new system

Congratulations! That should be a quite nice sounding system. I haven't compared all the alternatives so I can't completely answer your question. However, I can give some help. The KDS/1 is a definite musical improvement over the original KDS. There are also Renew versions of the KDS/0 and KDS/1 (KR...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

To Charlie1: Are you using the trick where you move the counterbalance closer to the bearings of the Ekos and at the same time compensating for this by lowering the force from the spring dial? To me it looks as if the counterweight is sitting very close to the bearings. Maybe I am wrong? I do not g...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Did I miss something? He used the board directly under the KK on top of the isoblue rack. The Sondek placed safely on the archidee. Nope, you didn't miss something - I did. Yes it was under the KK and not the LP12. They say loosing your memory is one of the first signs of advancing age... Now I'll ...

Nope, under the KK. You can see it in the video. Second clip on some homemade feet and in the third one directly on the IsoBlue shelf. KK sitting directly on top in both cases.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Here's some clips with and without the Ikea chopping board that has been recommended by some Linn forum members. The middle clip includes home made feet under the board. I'm still toying with speaker positioning after upgrading to KK1 but I'm getting there. Haven't ruled out Sagatun Monos longer te...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I forgot about a reply to the comment from beck about the "Very nice piece of music indeed!" Yes, it is quite a fine piece as is the whole album. You can hear the complete 2 LP set for yourself here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrSE2J1EQiI The album is by one of my all time favorite artists, Egb...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

.. I didn't like the board without feet at all. It was pretty dead sounding and really didn't get me into the music. There board with feet was much better but still not as good as no board... Agree - I felt like they were posted in order of decreasing musicality from no board to board only. I defin...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I have a small problem. It is clear to me that the Slipsik 6 was upset by sharing a shelf with the Uphorik in the first pair of clips (Suzanne Vega)from ThomasOK so if I shall use it I have to place the Slipsik on a shelf all by itself not leaving room for my Lingo. Always new problems to be solved...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I was quite careful to hold the iPhone exactly the same way for both recordings so the mic was not partly covered up. I have found that sometimes files played directly from Dropbox can sound quite different. Usually downloading the files first works better. It is always hard to comment on what some...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I didn't listen to them in the order listed so I was at first surprised that the clip of the board with feet wasn't too bad. This is because I didn't like the board without feet at all. It was pretty dead sounding and really didn't get me into the music. There board with feet was much better but sti...

Re: Slipsik 6

Well, Fredrik has done it again. A hearty congratulations is in store. The Slipsik 6 is now definitely the most musical MM phono stage I have heard, exceeding the musicality of the Uphorik which was my previous reference. I have never heard the Adikt sound better or more tuneful. (Yes, the Slipsik 6...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

The comparison is indeed the Uphorik vs. the Slipsik 6 I don't know what to say now. I haven't listened to Uphorik since I compared it with Slipsik 5.1 a couple of years ago. Uphorik was better. The Uphorik was better. But it's not anymore. I listened to a number of pieces of music on both units, u...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Hi all. Sorry it has taken me a while to get back but I've been out of town for the weekend hopefully signing up a new Lejonklou dealer. Then I got sick so I'm home healing up today. The comparison is indeed the Uphorik vs. the Slipsik 6. When I did these comparisons in the past with the 5.1 I felt ...

Re: Emotion in Music

better tunedem results in better access to the performer, results in more emotional connection. Yes, but not necessarily the other way around. +1 I have mentioned in another thread that going for most emotional connection can lead you the wrong way as it is influenced too much by your state mind (o...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I agree that the second one on the switch power supplies is significantly more in tune. Quite a bit better. As to my recent videos, it looks like I have to get a better handle on doing these properly. Now that I listen to these two on a system in the store it is obvious that it doesn't represent wha...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Had a chance to go through a few of these. I listened to the various ones of Charlie1s racks. Archidee is better than the IsoBlue, farther out is better than closer to the wall but the in-between position is the best. The Archidee is better than the Isoblue in the last set and the Isoblue with the g...

I use books until getting proper stands.
Now you guys are changing things up on me. Christian said 35cm which is 13.8". So has this changed?
