Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Oops! There are so many comparisons going on I’ve got confused and thought it was unanimous. I haven’t checked, but it would be interesting to see if there’s a difference between the Tuner’s and Preferer’s, cos really, we should all be agreeing. Just sayin! I would like to question that we should a...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

@Freddy. Thanks for posting. One of the advantages of the playground clips is that it’s possible for us to compare the “internet favourites” against something which can sound more musical. Your vids are a great example of that - I would never have even considered that a glass shelved mass market wa...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Lovely sound and lovely pictures of your system Freddy! :-) The AT33PTG/II has a lovely top end that seems to fit with your Standesign shelf. And one thing more: it is such a plessure to be able to see and hear such different systems as we have heard here on the “playground”. More systems are always...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

thank you beck - for me its more clear when I hear my own clips. also thank you for the compliment ... there is still two things on the hifi side - too much bass and sometimes too harsch. The hifi side has never been my focus. I guess that is why I never really feel the urge to upgrade from where I...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Clip 1 for me. I do not believe in listening for the setup that makes it easier to follow something. Music is about what is shared between the musicians. I want to be touched by the music and just let my thoughts fly when listening. Your clip 1 can do that to me. Your system sounds great Defender! :-)

Ha, on first listen I clearly prefer RightA (more emotion in voice) and RightB clips. Lovely.

I will return for a second listen tonight. :-)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I almost changed my mind reading tokenbrit and charlie1 and listening again but then I listened to the drummer from 13 sec in the video and forward and hear him getting the feeling of the beat “right” with the rest so I still prefer B.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I would like to warn against the use (my use) of the word “perfect” :-). Nothing is perfect. Even when we get close to what we search for using “the tune method” things can still be less than satisfying. There are too many unknowns in the mix. We cannot get around them all. The tune method is just t...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

OK, more clips, aided and abetted by Bella. There are three clips here but they are not an A/B/C. Compare Clip A to Clip B and let me know which one you feel is better. Then compare Clip B to Clip C and do the same. You are comparing two different changes, they just have Clip B in common. Clip A ht...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Still prefer the standard though I can hear what the appeal of the modified is. The standard sounds more natural.

I preferred the standard lack.

Edit: can see that I agree with beck. I wrote my post without reading his.
That is not necessarily a good sign :-). My hit rate i not that good. Though with these clips I feel good about our choice of the standard lack.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Post edit: I realise by listening again to the clips that the difference here is too small with this set to be heard. Well, I will try again if I find a better example. I think that's a good example. The second clip is clearly much better beck ;) ... just kiddin'! I think if one listens to my clips...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Two clips as an attempted answer to donuks question. Using my less than perfect cd player and system :-) you should be able to hear one of the clips being better at bringing it all together and the other with a slightly more “split” presentation (vision). Links removed. Post edit: I realise by liste...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Not trying to change the way I listen I am still an A man.

It follows the “rules” I like to judge the sound on. Together and “natural” to me.

B to me sounds impressive but slightly seperated and unnatural.

A tough call. :-)

Yes, I can now hear the trap (recording) I might have fallen in, as with the ThomasOk clips! Maybe we (I) are reaching a kind of limit when differences are small? Or I have to adjust......

Re: How to learn tunedem?

When I talk about a system that delivers “untight” beat it is a bit like looking in binoculars where the two lenses are not pulled fully together like one view! Everywhere the individual instruments have their own beat to follow slightly seperated from the rest. It has nothing to do with if the ban...
