I believe there is an ideal distance between the center of the motor pulley and the center of the record spindle that minimizes lateral motion. I think having precisely made top plate studs for the springs and a one piece subchassis like a Keel makes it easier to get there setup-wise.

I’m disappointed they’re no longer making videos. I think their original intent was to make 25 videos covering many aspects of the LP12. Does anyone know what shop the gentleman was from? The video on the motor was most informative IMO.

Given Linn Helpline's suggestion, would a dampened Mr Clean Magic Eraser be worth a try? I don't know if that's less or more aggressive on a lacquered surface...
