Re: Quality digital music: Do You Buy or Rent?
Just catching up on this one. My preferred choice is to buy cheap CDs off Music Magpie or (not as often now) off Amazon. Most have cost me £1.50 each, though I am running out of options now as most of the cheap stuff is mainstream pop or stuff that was never much good in the first place. Now we have...

Re: Streaming service
Hi Peter I need a couple of clarifications. What do you mean by modern music.Do you mean music written in modern times or music written by modern composers,or both ? And lastly what timespan are we talking about? I'm talking non classical here. I have two interests at the moment which are tradition...

Re: Streaming service
I'd check with your local dealer. Most of them, at least in the US, have free trial cards for Qobuz for a month. If they don't have them let me know and I think I can get you setup (although I don't know if ours work outside the US). You might even be able to get it just by going to the qobuz websi...

Re: Streaming service
Not much point in me getting it then. I was only tempted because it was free. I've no intention of paying for any streaming service as what I like seems to be such a minority part of the service (with Tidal at least).

Streaming service
I am coming to the end of the free 12 month Tidal subscription that came courtesy of my car. I am now being repeatedly invited to try Deezer for 3 months. Deezer is not in the list of services of Konfig, so can I stream Deezer to my Linn renderer as I did with Tidal? I could try and find this out fr...

Re: Small top quality floorstanders
Hello Peter, now after some time with your new Graham speakers, maybe you can give us a longer review? I have the M140's myself and thinking about an upgrade and the Graham's looks interesting, so a more in-depth comparison to them would be great. :) Apologies for the delay, but I've (fortunately) ...

Re: Linn Klimax Renew DS1 Brand New
I also agree £2.5k is unlikely to attract anyone for a DS1. They're quite 'old hat' now, having been superseded. My own new DS2 I bought 18 months back was significantly less that that. It may stand a chance on the auction site if you are very lucky, but not on here where most people know the value ...

Re: Status in the world of hifi
I think that too many arguments about music tend to dwell on one problem (vinyl vs digital) rather than considering lots of different issues. The basic concept is that the music should sound like the original reproduction. The sound of classical music and a significant amount of jazz is purely acous...
Re: Playlist
In my constant search for new material to listen to, I discovered these two very different albums at the same time. It still amazes me how so many musicians fail to get any attention despite their qualities: Gov't Mule - Déjà Voodoo The great thing about this Southern Rock outfit is that if you like...

Re: Small top quality floorstanders
What did Brian and/or Trevor think? I spent most of the demo with Trevor. He was obviously enthusiastic, but the enthusiasm was genuine. It was good to have some of the more technical aspects of speaker design and quality explained to me, but we also had quite a big overlap on musical taste, so ple...

Re: Small top quality floorstanders
I had the test of the Graham's yesterday and was very impressed. Physically they are very similar in size to the M140s but with a larger base. As expected the Graham's produced more bass which was possibly the weakest link in the M140. I also noticed a much greater improvement of overall sound with ...

Re: Musical NAS Drives
My own two penn'orth. Unless anyone knows something I don't, Tidal 'Master' does not work with Linn streamers which will only stream at 'HiFi' level, i.e. CD quality. I questioned Linn technical dept about this, and it is some very technical issue about the way Tidal master is streamed which would r...

Re: Small top quality floorstanders
Update:
After a period of letting my brain settle down after all the information, I am going to Brian & Trevors next week to have a listen to the Graham LS5/9F as they now have pair for demo.
I would be far more comfortable buying them though once I have sold my M140s and my Boazu.

Re: Klimax Renew DS/1 (sold) and Lejonklou Boazu for Sale (still for sale)
I've found out about the UPS option since I made that comment and I think it now works out about £40, so I now have included the postal option on my listing on Ebay.
However you have reminded me that I've not edited the original comment to reflect that so thanks for that.

Strange experience with Tidal
I have just subscribed to a 12 month free trial of Tidal Hifi. I had previously had a trial when I first got my Klimax with no issues. This time however, everything is streaming at 96kbps AAC, yet nothing has ever changed in my set up. I have checked settings in Konfig and Bubble DS and both are OK....

It would be so much safer if Europe has sensible plugs/sockets like we do in the UK. ;)

Boazu still for sale and open to sensible offers (as opposed to silly offers occasionally on Ebay).
