Just got a call from the dealer for the service quote and parts and on their way here!!! At least its not going to be the huge price I was expecting. Good news! Have you been missing your top system or getting on ok? You don't have an idea how I've missed the 2250!!!! The Naim Nait-5i doe...

Thanks Fred! Just hung up with the dealer... 1. Blasted cap 2. Burned output stage IC 3. Burned board traces (well, vaporized!) They will quote for local repair with original replacements. Traces need to be jumped with short wire jumpers though. I told them to include in the quote replacing the BFA ...

Fred, I saw your post about the 2250 you were selling a while ago and it mentioned it had regular 4mm banana sockets. Was it difficult to install and solder them? Any pictures? As part of my 2250 service back at Linn I'm trying to get them to switch the BFA sockets to standard 4mm banana sockets. If...

My 2250 is dead...
Last Thursday night my 2250 went up in smoke during an interlude while listening to music. A really weird 'squaking' and 'hissing' sound came from the area were my system is. I'm still not sure if it was from the speakers or the 2250 since I was in the kitchen fixing myself a 'Corona' beer. :mrgreen...

Recapping speaker x-overs
Hi,
My Katans are over 6 years old and I was wondering if they would benefit from a x-over recap?
Has anyone done a Linn x-over recap and can comment? If so, what caps?

When the Keel came to life I wondered why it could take so long to figure that one out. Yes, I wonder that too. Maybe it's cos the LP12 took a back seat in terms of development for a long while and before then, when vinyl was still very popular, perhaps a Keel wasn't technically possible? Me too, s...

Personally, I hope Ivor does sue him. Trying to make money of someone else's hard work by making a cheap knockoff of their design is unethical and lazy (some may feel that is The American Way, but I disagree). Of course he can sell it for less, he has no R&D costs to cover as he just copied someone...

A short description and some photos: The support is cut out from a 4 mm aluminium plate with a total length of 55 mm. It's fastened with two grub screws (M2 x 3mm) in the back making a three-point fastening. The arm clip is a cut down Ekos ditto (I believe). It’s fastened with a counter sunk screw ...

Re: Ittok LV-II vs Project 9
How does the new Linn-sanctioned Project 9 tonearm compares (in tune and musicality) to the old-and-venerable Ittok LV-II?? I would say, not (at all) as good. I have compared the Project 9 with the Akito 2b and the Akito is significantly better than the Project 9. And the Project 9 also has a speci...

I got a nice tip on a 'Home Theater' forum about setting the subwoofer phase which I think is quite good, but you need a calibrated microphone (which I have), a PC and a real time spectrum analysis software (REW which is free). After completing your 'isolated' calibration (souncard-only and souncard...

Katan xover network order
Out of curiosity, what type of xover network order design is used in Katan's internal passive xover?? Just got my new subwoofer and want to match its phase delay to the Katans. I will tune it using the tune method but I just want to try this before spending too much time tweaking back and forth. :mr...

Re: Lingo 2 with new motor
Soon for sale is my Lingo 2 and an almost new motor. If you can visit me, an installation and a complete adjustment of the LP12 (with torque tool) can be arranged. Otherwise I'll ship it in original packing. Complete with installation, I'm asking 8000 SEK. Haven't quite decided the price without......
