Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?
I only had a brief listen of 33 last night, just to check all was OK after update from 19 - sounded promising... Will give it some time over the weekend to familiarise myself with 33 musically, then compare and report a little later. I am also intrigued by 32 since stefan said that was better than ...

Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?
Davaar 34 is removed http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes I've just installed 35, going from 32. Clearly better IMO. I've tried 33 but found it less musical than 32. I'll have a look on my computer to see if I've got a copy of D34 so you can give it a try. I may not have one because I...

Re: Radikal is in place
I think it's really up the source what is the best. From my Oppo 105 to KK I definitely prefer balanced. I would think this is due to that Oppo have made this output better. Better output stage or something. It's not just more impressive sound from movies, compared with a CD and it's better in tune ...

According to this, your best upgrade regardless of what level your LP12 are! Anyone attended the Bristol show and heard this demo?

Re: Optimizing Speakon
Yes, according to Linn they ship their amps with a set of Neutrik NL4FX. For singlewire, I don't think it matters at all if you use NL4FX or NL2FX. Or if you use NL4FC. What's more important is good soldering. Ordered K200 myself from Fredrik with speakon in the amp end and bananas in the speaker en...

Re: Preamps with DSs
.... Have a dem of the volume on an ADS2 then decide whether you need a preamp, it is much better than the ADS1... Before I've heard ADS/1 vs ADS/2 directly to poweramp. Now I've compared ADS/1 and the new ADSM through a KK. If the improvements would be in the internal volume then the gap between t...
Re: Booplinth
......... I have always wondered if the wood plinths sound/perform better with age just as an old guitar does. Perhaps the wood structure becomes more like bamboo. I really don't think so. I recently changed from 1988 Afro with cirkus to a 2012 Cherry ie same specs, using the same arm/radikal motor...

Re: Preamps with DSs
According to my dealer, Linn claims that the new ADSM (with Exakt links and analog outputs) will perform better on its own, directly to a poweramp, than through a Klimax Kontrol. Perhaps it's a flashing red light saying you shouldn't trust your dealer. I can live with the idea that an ADSM sounds b...

Re: Preamps with DSs
I think the logic behind Linn's decision is rather simple. A DS sounds better with a preamp, everyone agrees on that.. and I don't think that the people at Linn are thinking differently. Sadly they do. According to my dealer, Linn claims that the new ADSM (with Exakt links and analog outputs) will ...

Re: DS to /2 upgrade
Has anybody yet compared the internal volume control on, say, the new ADS/2 against the ADS/1 ... Yes I have, yesterday evening. Big difference really! What I would like to have done is to compare them with a good preamp. But that we didn't do. No doubt you can live with (or actually even prefer) A...

No doubt it will be better, remains to see(hear) if it's the level of ADS/KDS 0->1. For sure it will bring us more KRDS/1 and that's a good thing. No priceinfo, the same or increased for a new /2 ?

Re: KK - Works with no front panel?
I can confirm that RS232 works for setting the volume and selecting the sources from Kinsky. It is a bit awkward though as you can't change the volume if you have playlist selected. You'll have to change from playlist to the input used in KK (the inputs appear in that list). Then back to playlist to...

Re: Offerdal system swe
I've had Kairns (two of them actually) and used Slipsik for many years now, updated to 5.1. Kairn's phonostage is good but it's likely worthwhile to go for either Gaio or Slipsik. But I've never actually heard a Gaio. You want a real difference? get a Radikal. Project arm? Look for s/h Ekos2. One qu...

Re: Confused: KRDS/1 & Davaar 19, or earlier
Agree, it is confusing. Still not absolutely sure but this is how I interpret this.
But KRDS/1 has the board from a KDS/1. How come you don't use the very same software ? The board has been reprogrammed in some way ?

Re: Confused: KRDS/1 & Davaar 19, or earlier
For me it's pretty clear, you can't go earlier than 4.19 on "Klimax DS Mk2 devices that have been renewed" ie KRDS/1. So I wouldn't try if I were you. I went from 4.14 to 4.24 and back on ADS/1 so no comment on 4.19 but I will likely test it some day. I wouldn't worry to much, the difference is like...
... Today tried to reverse Davaar 14 (Klimax dsm) and nothing to prefer it over newest davaar 24. I use ADS/1 so I can only comment on that, but according to the thread at Linns forum it's not just me. ... Btw do you know that Tidal integration works normally with Bubble ds next when Davaar 14 is i...

I've been told that KDS/1 have transformers on the balanced output and therefore it's preferable with KK. ADS (either version) do not. Both balanced and unbalanced outputs are through a transformer on the Klimax (and K Renew) DS players. The same is true for Urika. And if you read the Urika manual,...

It would be interesting to compare 242s to the T1s but I am not sure I want to really discover the answer - I am enjoying the music too much to then discover that there is yet another level that I should be aspiring to. Good! I did try Kazoo server for an hour or so and tried to compare with Asset in the same way. Felt I prefered Asset but I will return to Kazoo once we have a stable ARM-release. Also, check if Webserver is running and if so, turn it off in the same way. Was a few years ago but it did make a differ...
