Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

..Very interesting results with me as the only one to prefer A in both cases. By the way I still stand by my choices. How does it sound in room and what do you prefer Beck? I understand all the answers that are written regarding setup A and B, and they are one to one with what I hear in the room. :...

Yes, A and A2 are the same setup. B and B2 are the same setup.

The funny thing is that I can go from the one sound to the other in 1 second doing it on the fly! I still have a leg in each camp……..

Re: More Tune Method Talk...

Thinking even more about this, I think I’ve conflated inharmonicity and pitch. Inharmonicity is the measurable variance from a theoretical ideal and is what gives instruments their timbre. Pitch is a subjective impression of the notes being played on instruments, even when their timbre differs, and...

Your system Markiteight is an example of what can be achieved by being curious and unconventional.

An enjoyable and very low cost hifi solution that will satisfy many I am sure. :-)

Could it be your room that is playing tricks on you (us)? The height of it being unusual?

It’s certainly not what I seek beck. It’s one of the most unmusical systems I’ve ever heard!

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

That's helpful actually. I'm guessing X2 is your previous setup and Y2 is something new. Y2 defo does the Hi-Fi stuff better and is more impactful, perhaps more compelling as well. For me, X2 might have a slight timing edge in terms of bringing the music together but personally I'd live with Y2 for...

I'm not sure. They seem very close to my ears. I enjoyed X a little more to begin with but at around 30 secs, I started to slightly prefer Y. So I'm on the fence. I think the most enjoyable music I've heard from a CD clip and really good for digital of any kind. Here is a second set to compare. X2)...
