That was it (E45M1-I deluxe). ('We don't produce it any longer') The question is, ho...

Can you test with all HDD's and USB cables removed/disconnected, only with the 320 (+OS drive) and see if that makes a difference? Very annoying stuff!: Yes, it makes a difference. 1) OS HDD plus Intel320 SSD; 2) plus USB3 HDD cable plugged in, drive sleeping; 3) as 2) but drive not sleeping. All t...

A short note only, as it relates partly to recording: The type of HDD seems to have less effect on recording than on playing. The Intel 320 and my 1.5 TB 2.5'' USB3 are very very close, the 500 GB 2.5'' Seagate sounds more different. Playback after copy to there via the newly installed Intel 320 (12...

and the fact that the MB is laying flat on the bottom of the case. I was not comfortable with a MB that hangs vertically. This is usually a bad thing for music I can tell if this is the case here when finished with the PC. In my Q08 the board is intended to stay vertical and I can turn the case by ...

@tom I had my original order of the Deluxe cancelled today, as it is presently not available via the seller I ordered it. He told me that there is a high demand for this mainboard and it appears drop after drop. No mention of being obsolete. It is not available at most retailers in Germany to date, ...

I'm glad more people are discovering the qualities of the Intel 320, they are great! Is it good for recording also? Yes, recording on this disk is the logical next step. Up to date I only installed the drive and copied a few existing tracks (i.e. LP sides) on it. These had been recorded with a 1.5 ...

In my system, too, the Intel320 sounds great (Asus/W-XP/Firewire). Thanks a lot! I installed it a few moments ago, and it will need more time and music to fully evaluate/appreciate it, but right from the first few seconds it is clear that it sounds superiour to what is built into the PC before. (Did...

Just to double check what RAM to use: Is there a general overview at Asus? From the path: Asus site / service / downlaod and then enter the mainboard and W7-64 I got a couple of files for the e45-pro and one file for the deluxe. For the pro there is a number of 8 GB possibilities listed: If 1600 the...

As for the A-Data RAM, ADATA-XPG-Gaming-Series-DDR3-1600-CL9-8-GB @paolo I guess that the 1600 version is overkill, my Asus manual (e45 deluxe)states that 1333 is maximum. The respective card is a bit cheaper, but in the overall costs this plays a very minor role, of course. Check the Asus board ma...

Thanks for checking the PSU! In order to clear up possible confusion, here is how the PSU is described at Seasonic Platinum-460 FANLESS (SS-460FL2 Active PFC) with already an error that migrates like other errors in the dealers' descriptions: the FL2 is originally FL-squared. This is the 'X-series',...

Thanks for the link, Paolo. It is indeed a tempting offer. It was only the '8MB-bug' (obviously not cured to date) which pushed me to a vendor where I get a regular invoice. I'm starting with this disk and proceed later. The disk has to win against my Seagate 500 MB 2.5 inch first! I'm more than cur...

It may be that I ordered the gold series of Seasonic SS-460FL instead of the platinium series by accident. The gold series seem to be the previous model with the same name SS-460FL/SS-460FL2. Will this be a problem - or is anyone using the gold series as well? I don't know if there is a difference....

I guess, the answer is: NO. The question is: Has anybody tried this PC for music outside a LinnDS system? The background for the question is that I record and play digitally using a Firewire Interface and have detected differences in performance between a number of HDD as well - not too surpising pe...

most of them are synchronous, a design concept limited to a certain performance level as it relies on the clock feed allong with the music data. A non compromise DAC has to use asynchronous data transfer in order to de-cuple the clocking from the data. A few may be found here: http://thewelltempere...

As far as I know the Knekt bananas can be found at Linn dealers only. They do not appear in the actual Linn price list. This is so since a couple of years while they were nevertheless available. I do not know the actual situation, however. I once tried gold plated spades with K400/600 feeding A242s....

Thanks John! I found the Bergeon Rodico 6033 at all watch part supply and repair shops and ordered one. stylus cleaner
Recently I learned how important a clean stylus is by comparing an old recording (pre EkosSE) to my actual setup (w EkosSE and renewed pickup): The old file was just better. After searching for potential reasons, it turned out that some sticky dirt on the needle was the culprit. Green paper would no...
