Re: The meaning of Source First
Sorry sunbeam, but optimising the position of loudspeakers in a room does not minimise room nodes in the simple (and IMHO useless) way that space does. If that was the case, we would have had a mathematical method for it decades ago. No apology required. I never mentioned SPACE. I wrote about using...

Re: The meaning of Source First
It would seem, particularly for a system with an analogue source, that the careful set up of the source will be more important than any other component. It would be interesting to make comparisons between the physical set up of an SSD NAS vs an HDD NAS vs a well supported / badly suppprted streamer...

Re: The meaning of Source First
I think debates like this are inevitable on a forum which is populated by people who have very firm opinions. Which is a shame: people who hold different views will be reluctant to contribute. We are not professional journalists, nor university students having to produce papers which are academical...

Re: JBL 3677
I am really interested in hearing a system with these speakers or even buying them directly following all your reports. But I hesitate as I do not want to ruin them, in doing all the modifications myself. Fredrik, are you selling them modified? Or is there another place where I could get a modified...

sunbeamgls, for me, you are a Troll balancing and always trying to be on the polite but questioning side of the border. Your way of discussing and insulting is on the rude side witch makes the atmosphere a bit poisoned. Realise you are upsetting people with your way of acting. Ironi and sarcasm is a...

Re: JBL 3677
i, There is no way calculating the correct distance from back wall, you must listen for the best position. Same goes for toe in. I have found zero toe in to be the best in my room. Erik. That's actually not true. It's scientifically proven and basic acoustic science. As you move the speaker toward ...
Re: JBL 3677
So is it the best to optimise the distance to the back wall at first and then the distance between the speakers? Matt That would be my recommendation. I think it makes a bigger difference although I am open to differing opinions (meaning I haven't researched it thoroughly). Affirmative. And I use t...
Re: JBL 3677
Hi, it would be very nice to know what the 3677 owners here found to be the best distance between the back of the speakers and the wall. Many thanks. Matt I've owned the 3677 twice and own them currently. I've had extensive time with them. Distance from wall is based on SBIR. When using a sub say c...

I also wish you luck in proving that a good source guarantees a good Tune Dem. I gave examples where this was clearly not true. A good source in a good system is absolutely going to be the thing to focus on to improve and get an even better Tune Dem, but couple a good source with unlistenable compo...

We have passed that stage and also found out that source first always applies. Contribution to the forum is highly appreciated and the aim is to hel...

Re: Normal Yggdrasil (& other Harmoni questions)
I have tried a lot to get the best out of my Harmoni racks. I think my observation echoes what has been observed by others. Attention to details is as usual crucial, and makes it sometimes hard to know what you really compare as it's more or less impossible to assemble two racks identically. I use t...
