Having re-read the suggested protocols on this For Sale forum, I feel I ought to supply the following information. My friend "runnermattrunning" has just put these speakers for me on e-Bay for me. (Where photos are also to be found). My asking price here, is based on what seems the be the going pric...

SOLD - Linn Ninkas, Maple, for sale, York UK

Owing to the fact that a pair of Spendor A6s have fallen into my lap, and are smaller for my little listening room, I now have my cherished Ninkas for sale. Late vintage - better tweeters (??), bought new from Sound Organisation, York in 2007. One steady owner - been used only for good music. No vis...

Reducing the treble response of Linn Ninkas

In my listening room my Ninkas can, to my ears, be a bit bright in the treble. I have devised a simple external modification to address this. Details will be found on http://www.vinyl-records-for-sale.co.uk/Forum/Linn_Ninka.htm I should point out that I have sought permission from Mr L prior to post...

I cut these off and soldered on brand new UK MK plugs bypassing all the fuses. (don't need them anyway as my house is completely on RCB breakers). Flat Hi Flatearther, I am sure this is good practice sonically, and I agree there is no need for a fuse on a plug when you have circuit breakers. The th...

Hello Mr L Thank you for your reply. With the Mogami cable I put two wires in parallel. This is the way that the Sound Organisation use them. If one seeks out the specification for the cable - here is a link to a pdf data sheet http://www.hhb.co.uk/files/product/file/datasheet_20120314134638_991.pdf...

Hi Mr L Perhaps my comparisons were not as rigorous as you would have liked. But I will try to answer a couple of questions. I have tried the Mogami cable bi-wired into my speakers, and prefer them in single wired configuration. That is, with two of the four runs of wire running in parallel. This is...

I will answer my own question here.
I did upgrade the power supply to Dynamik.
A significant improvement.
The shape of notes is more realistic - the start and fade of notes is more accurate.
Lyrics are easier to follow; instruments even more separated.

To be recommended.

Hi Guys Forum been a bit quiet recently, so I thought I would post this. I don't know if it should have its own thread or is OK on here. The nub is, has anyone tried Mogami W2972 speaker cable? I got some from the Sound Organisation, York for about £20 per metre. It outperforms (to my ears) Telluriu...

I am acting Devil's advocate here perhaps, but I would like to say a word or two about the practice of setting up systems. Now, firstly I reluctantly agree that how a system is installed, wired up and postitioned is vital to its performance. As an ex-electrical engineer I am able to apply a certain ...

Yes Mike, I have followed the Linn debate and was likewise interested that it was inconclusive. One reason why I keep the lid on my LP12 closed during playback it to keep the stylus cleaner. I suffer static in my listening room, and am used to the record mat sticking to the record when I remove it. ...

Hi guys I recently upgraded my Linn System from and early Linto to a Uphorik. A good improvement! Which meant that - as all good upgrades seem to mean - I played discs at more volume without it sounding loud. I am sure you know what I mean. I became aware of a rustling noise that at times almost pre...

From memory, I seem to recall that Linn write something like "must be installed by an authorised Linn dealer" or similar. Surely, Linn has given the dealer the responsibility to make sure that a system is optimised for the customer home conditions, tastes, hifi rack, cable choice &c. My local dealer...

Hello Salty Dog of the Chicago Suburbs! Thanks for the quick reply. I too found raised printing on my coach bolts. I reached for a file and removed them! Thank you Thomas for your helpful reply - as ever! Well I have now had a good chance to try various values and read a bit more about the Uphorik on the net. Hi Guys I have had an early Christmas present - a Uphorik phono amp. The rest of my system is Dynavector 20XL2 / IttokVII / LP12 / Cirkus / Tramp2, Lingo 1 / Majik Kontrol / 2200 / Ninkas. Lovely sound - has got me into another league. Obviously I have been playing with settings for loading the cart...

Just my two cents worth: I have contemplated, and been encouraged by my dealer, to go active for some time. I have also tried bi-wiring with my Ninkas with both 2100 and, more recently, a 2200 amplifier. I have visited friends and demos - and heard Naim set-ups as well. My verdict: bi-wiring, bi-amp...

Thanks for all the good advice, Mr L! Given that I have Ninkas and a 2200, what would sound best: Split K400, used as "K200" in single speaker passive mode, or buy a bit more K400 and use it in bi-wired passive mode? With my wooden floored small listening room, I have to fight against anything that ...

Speaker configuration plates

This is a question about the connection plates at the rear of some Linn speakers which cleverly configure them for bi-wiring, bi-amping &c. I have a pair of Ninkas which I am running from a 2200 in simple vanilla passive stereo mode. Now I know it is good form to tighten the nuts holding the plates ...
