Re: Volumio.
Interesting. Perhaps Linn develops it for iOS and then converts it sloppily to Android. The NAS has Openmediavault with Minidlna. It seems to work quite well. Kazoo is not showing it for almost two days now. I cleared all program data, uninstalled it and installed again. Same thing. BUT, you can pla...
Re: Volumio.
I have noticed another weirdness. After playing several songs, Android Kazoo stops updating the field below with the current song. I have to kill the app and restart it, to make it again show the current song. Which in itself has issues, because I may have to try a few times before the app actually ...

Re: Paaf system
It's a good idea Sunbeamgls, a friend also mentioned the same thing. There are some random objects, curtains and flower pots on the wall at the height of the speaker, so it's not a hard shiny wall... but there is a window behind all that so it's definitely worth a shot. Imagine the WAF of large grey...
Re: Volumio.
When I try to a) play a song from NAS b) play radio for a while c) play a song from NAS again, I get stuck on step c) unless I first go to Kazoo Playlist -> Edit -> Delete All (in the windows app, similarly in the Android app).
Could someone please check if they have the same issue?

Re: Paaf system
A funny random thing.
I had the same song on my NAS as both 320k mp3 and lossless FLAC. In the past I've compared such many times by sound - typically ending up in "treble sounds a bit dirty" for the mp3.
I now compared with the tune method instead. Oh yeah.

I prefer clip 1 for both songs.
Re: Volumio.
I advise to try turning off X11 and similar as soon as you don't need a screen connected to it any longer. It's likely to impact musicality.
Re: Volumio.
Nice, I updated. I can confirm that lossless Radio Paradise now works.
Re: Volumio.
Very cool. Radio doesn't go in MPD playlists then. Thank you!
I removed the one he said, and then it works, and modifying the list also works. In the Kazoo list it says they are all 48k but luckily they are not. :)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I voted on the second one when it was audio. Later I tried to watch the videos but my laptop kept dying so I gave up. Now I saw your long post ThomasOK thinking you would reveal what it was, so to test more blindly I quickly listened to the videos first. After a few seconds Track A gave me nice ting...
Re: Volumio.
It is a good theory, however 0.20.22 was never in my HAKAI. There is the old version that comes with Volumio, and I previously installed 0.20.21 and now I have installed 0.20.23. Regarding web radio: Using mpc, I can play web radio stations, and also save playlists of such, which I can then load aga...

Re: Volumio.
The combination MPD and Upmpdcli is all we need to get music out of HAKAI and controlled by Kazoo. I agree! I was hoping someone would try this! :) I will wait for your reports but of course I am very curious if you have any initial impressions regarding tunefulness. Is it possible to play web radi...

Room acoustics vs tune method
My room acoustics is not great due to having one speaker near a corner. I used the tune method for positioning the speakers, with the contraint to have symmetry around the tv on the wall behind. The resulting tune is great! However, the stereo image is skewed to the left, it seems to shy away from t...
Re: Volumio.
Web radio didn't work at all after the steps, but after a reboot it works.
It's actually better than before, now it starts the station after just one click instead of after several clicks.
Is your web gui queue in sync with your control app?

Re: Volumio.
Thank you!
This part was the only missing link for me: "/etc/mpd.conf" !
Not only does the playlist finally work for the first time(!) but it also sounds great!

Re: Volumio.
I installed 0.20.23 again and edited the two files you named to point to the correct MPD, and reboot. For some reason MPD is not running now. The logs say: 2018-12-10T20:10:35.733Z - error: Cannot read config.txt file: Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/boot/config.txt' 2018-12-10T20:1...
Re: Volumio.
No, I meant that I myself compared 0.20.21 and 0.20.23 (without clips) - or at least I thought I did. Obviously something else was going on at the time.
Re: Volumio.
Doh... I missed some steps in updating mpd. Volumio installs MPD in /user/bin All files related (/etc/init.d/mpd and /lib/systemd/system/mpd.service) point to that location. Nice find! It probably explains why "make install"-ing different MPD versions didn't solve any bugs lol Although... then it's...

Did you find a version that is more tuneful than others?

Re: Paaf system
Thank you. :) Room acoustics vs tune method. Sound in my system is tilted to the left. The right speaker stands in a corner. For years I thought the tilt was because of me - my right ear is not as good as my left ear. A friend, when asked to point to the center sound, pointed to a position about a t...

Re: Paaf system
Well isn't this hilarious.... I fine tuned the placement of little feet under a little board on which I place the PSU for the NAS. After many AB tests, I was content. Some hours later I was in "regular mode" not "extreme tune method nerd mode" - and compared this perfectly tuned thing with simply pl...

Re: HAKAI playground
David Neel, I got the same too with MDS. Tests Android vs iOS would definitely be interesting. As an interesting twist, while Linn Support helped me solve another issue, I mentioned in passing that I musically prefer Kazoo to all the other apps - they said there is NO difference between different ap...

Re: HAKAI playground
Thank you everyone who listened and commented! I actually used dozens or more clips myself before posting the first one, because it seemed so impossible. In the first track I hear more emotion in the words in B, for instance it sounds like he's smiling on the word "smile" instead of just singing som...
