Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

The thing with Linn's choice of drivers for the 360 is that if they were aiming at speakers that are a good compromise between looking good and sounding good, then the Seas drivers make a lot of sense. But in that case, why not aim to produce speakers that retail at £3000 to £15,000? In that market...

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary

They are European sourced, so far it hasn't been revealed (officially anyway) from which supplier/s. Pretty sure they aren't standard issue, but adapted to Linn's specifications. The mid driver has some resemblance to some of PMC's drivers, let's see if it will be revealed, when the 360's are offici...

Re: Record player for daughter

Thanks very much. I'll take a closer look at the Dual. Could be a good recommendation. My kids aren't teenagers who succumb to a fashion trend. They know exactly how to get their music. The daughter now also vinyl. She gets some of my double-collected albums as a starter package Here's a Linn Basik...

Re: Wallopp turntable

It seems a bit like a modern day Axis with a Rega arm (it's actually a Moth RB220), probably a very good choice, if you can't afford an LP12. It's actually Wallop with only one "p".

Re: Cartridge dilema

Find someone to rebuild it. That's certainly doable for that kind of money. You could get it done with the same boron cantilever and stylus (by Ogura), that Linn/Lyra uses. However, if you need it right away, maybe better a Koil or the AT, that it's based on. Otherwise, a Dynavector 10X5 Mk II Neo ...

Late to the party, but I think that B grooves much better. Also Phil's voice followed the backing strings much better on B.

Re: Speakers more tuneful than Linn

Who has found some new tuneful speakers since 2018? At the HiFi Show Norddeutsche HiFi-Tage I heard a new model from Graham, that was pretty impressive. It's the floor-standing version of the 5/5, called 5/5F (surprise ;-)). The were best-in-show, I think, even with an unknown digital streamer. The...
