Re: Tony Tune-age System
congratulations to the new addition to your system - seems it was a worthwhile step even though the Klimax Kontrol is already a tough cookie to beat ;) if you are not already using the upper outputs - there might be even a tiny bit more musicality in it for you. Enjoy 😉 what would we do if no upgrad...

Re: Hermanns System
keep us all posted about the differences in case you can remember them. If its the same unit just upgraded I expect it to settle down much faster.

so did you bought the Entity also? it had to go back for the upgrade? I am curious what you say about the Entity in the end.

Re: What makes a good LP12 felt mat?
thank you for the recommendation of the tool. Its funny after your test I thought well the new one is screwed up but maybe still sounds better than the old one ... and the screwed up one did sound better. So much that I am questioning if my old one was a genuine Linn one - anyway a nice upgrade on t...

Re: What makes a good LP12 felt mat?
I had the same feeling when I got my new mat ... it was easier to find out which side up is right. But than I screwed the mat up as it had wrinkles and I tried to iron them out with a rather cold temperature but screwed thr mat up because it was shrinking during ironing. Btw. which side is up on you...

Re: What makes a good LP12 felt mat?
I agree tagged sounds better with both mats. For me its more the timing that makes a difference - untagged interrupts the flow. It took a bit longer for me to decide which mat I liked better as I wanted to make sure we dont always choose option 2 as habbit being better. But also agree with that - hi...
Re: Boazu pre
I have so far not heard a Digital volume control which is close to a good pre amp. Also a passive volume control sounded detailed but boring to me.
So Boazu but its not a Pre but an integrated.

Re: Linn Linto Mk1 vs Mk2
was there ever an MKII with the Linto?
I thought also there was two versions but got corrected it was related to the Lingo II where there was a version with normal electronic circuit MK1 and later a version with surface mounted circuit the MK2

Re: Akurate DS versus DSM
if its just music quality than go DS if the housing is still upgraded with the upgrade to DSM than you need to evaluate for yourself how much important is that for you incl. the possible resale value.
The rest of the additional DSM „features“ depend on if you can make use of it.

Re: Akurate/0 upgrade to Akurate/3 katalyst
I did the upgrade from the ADS/1 to ADS/3 and it was worthwhile with respect to musicality but also Hifi/sound. Not sure if they still offer the ADS/0 to ADSM/3 upgrade as that would give you a new casing. another chance is to buy a ADS/3 used and sell your ADS/0 to compensate the additional cost ov...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Hi Beck I hoped you would comment, I decided to setup the LP12 to bring it back to the old performance and than make the test again. Both strips have advantages and disadvantages but as I have both I can have a control try later - my jig should arrive this weekend ;) BTW „with text“ ... is better it...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
@SewerSleuth somehow I expected that my test would be too much for you but why should I wait just because you would probably be joking about it. Unfortunately you didn’t understood what the test was about - a power strip has only one way to connect it. The difference is how the cable is attached at ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
that seems to be an interesting one ... in the room the strip „against text“ sounds much different to the other and it gives me a smile and sounds more musical to me as well the instruments flow much better. I can also understand the voices better ... so much that I was checking if I linked the righ...

Hi SeverSleuth,
thank you for giving me another lesson in life. Very much welcome. But I have to be honest it feels a little bit weird as our intention was to help you. So please don’t expect me to contribute anymore.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
can I make a suggestion - as I am afraid in the end we have no outcome because there is no structured approach: 1. make two clips with which whatever mat first - one clip one side up than the other clip with the other side up mark the one side which comes out as better 2 make two clips with the othe...

mmh do we now know what mat 1 was and what mat 2 was? btw. we are serious about the felt mat - one side is more musical than the other - maybe you thought we are joking but we are dead serious about it ... and again when you just stuck it on the platter and the top side is what it is than you are on...
