Axel, Thomas, Fredrik, thank you for you replies. What you say Thomas reinforces my suspicions about the fact that the longer screws have been supplied for a fortuity more than a conscious choice. The two LP12s where I've found the long screws are very recent ones so maybe that Linn has not complete...

Circus armboard screws now longer. Why?

Hello everybody, we know that Linn for several years have repeatedly stated that the screws supplied to fasten the armboard to the LP12 subchassis were made that way - small and short - for absolutely intentional and substantiated reasons: they guaranteed exactly the right amount of coupling between...

The RCD we used is 8amp(I think) rating. The RCD is simply the device that clicks off if anything nasty is happenning - a safety device - like a little switch. RCD means Residual Current Device, it does interrupt the mains if it detects a leakage current - standard is more than 30 mA in Italy. It w...

Maybe they have changed the Windows application, but not the firmware itself? Does the "new" H8S 218 firmware report a different "H8S DATE/TIME" on the Unidisk than the "old" H8S 218 firmware? You may well be right here! Unfortunately I cannot verify this for some time because my Unidisk is away fo...

I went through and made some minor edits in places where the original "Italian" syntax might have been a little difficult for an American to understand, but I really don't want to change the sound or the gist of what you've written! Thank you Ceilidh, for me it's perfectly ok and I really appreccia...

Paolo, could you please repost the pertinent parts of your Topica explanation to this (Lejonklou) forum? With Topica moving away from TuneDem and Mr. Lejonklou managing things here, this forum seems the natural home of a discussion like yours, and novices like myself would find your post very usefu...

About H8S 218 version, I've noticed that the package available since a few days is different from the very first released by Linn. A binary comparison of the .exe files shows that they are different. I don't know what kind of modifications have been produced though, nor there's evidence of this on t...

You have an impressive amount of experience, Anthony! I am a bit surprised by the maximum distance you have found, though, as my last pair of 212's ended up at around 40 cm from the rear wall (in a small room). Have you tried going that far? I did get similar best position also with my Akurates, bo...

Great work Fredrik these are fantasctic informations! If from a point of view it's disappointing that Linn is continuing to release worse sw version than the 221 as Ceilidh underlined, it's likewise conforting the fact that the buyer of a new product is still (reasonably) sure to have better sound q...

Hello Music Lover If a Unidisk 1.1 has been updated it need a "reset" to be at it's best. Also, the Unidisk must be configured again as the reset takes it back to factory settings I agree about the need to reset the unit but for what I remember now, the factory settings which affect cd sound quality...

Hello everybody, just curiours to know if anybody else has reached his conclusions with the new ESS227. I have finally decided to stick with 221, which with my (old) Uni1.1 provides consistently better tune/melody, tough with a less impressive and articulated sound. Using 227 I realized I was listen...

Hello Ledcam, if you want an amp that is better in all respects than the Klout the answer is Chakra X200 series. Having lived long with Klouts, 2250 and now 200W Chakras and I can honestly assure you that C2200 sounds MUCH better than 2250, more powerful, dynamic, solid, exact, detailed. The 2250 is...

What board revision do you, Fredrik and Paolo have? I have an old Unidisk 1.1, board is L1. It would be interesting to know if the new SW behaves differently with different board revisions, anyone with the latest board can report? Another good point is if the H8S SW has any influence on sound. I've...

I agree with Fredrik. My very first impression (I've installed new ESS and H8S last night and only listened to a few tracks) is that on CD 227 resolves better than 221, expecially bass and rhythms, but a bit of flow and melody get lost. I'm still not sure which version sounds more tuneful, though by...

Interesting... I've found the last BAHOING Linn power cord quite bad indeed, the music becomes bigger and more open but quite bland, unrhythmic and uninteresting with my system. This is surely a new one (Uni 1.1, Kontrol, Chakra2200, Aku242). This is very strange cause I've heard very mixed commnets...

I use Fredrik's Power One too. It's the best mains cord I've tried so far, substantially better than the standard cord that Linn actually supplies in Europe. The latter is different from the American one described by Thomas and not that good in my opinion.

Fantastic to know this Fredrik! Some internal cablings - those equipped with connectors- can in case be optimized for direction by the user, given he knows what to do. Linn balanced Silver cable for Unbalanced interconnects

Hello, has anybody tried using Linn balanced Silver cable to make an unbalanced interconnect? The idea is to use the two internal insulated wires for the signal and the shield connected just at one side. I wonder how it compares with an interconnect made with standard Linn unbalanced Silver cable, o...

Carle, I've had on loan a CDX2 some years ago when my cd player was a Kark III. Just to comment with Fredrik's and Vidar's words the Naim player had surely more "tonal colours" but the Linn player was clearly more in tune. That is, the Karik was the best at palying music. I agree with Fredrik that t...
