No forum for much of this period.
Do you believe sales will now drop?
How many customers are happy with the forum decision?
How many are disappointed?
Based on a few forums I visit it’s 0 vs 50+

Sure it’s going to affect sales!

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

I'm still intrigued and interested in the question posed by my good friend, donuk. Define musicality in the context we're talking about. I expect Fredrik to lead with this one but I know he's really busy. (will probably pop up now and make me look daft!) ok then... Musical understanding: Dylan play...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

it was markedly more musical (wider soundstage, more engaging mids, less muddy bass) I say there is no correlation between the sound being more clear/less muddy and the reproduction being more musical. In fairness to Timster, I don’t think he’s saying his system is more musical because of the wider...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

I would add that they don't have to be mutually exclusive, there's no reason why there can't be both. Even if you are basically correct, that is not the point. The point is...if the reproduction is musical - you don't care a BIT of the sound. So if you start thinking "wow this sound great" - that i...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

I would add that they don't have to be mutually exclusive, there's no reason why there can't be both. Perhaps not but the key factor is that if you optimize your system based on clear sound, a 3D soundstage etc. you will over time not end up with the most musical system (tune-dem-wise). Strangely (...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

If it sounds better, it is better. ;) That is a quite misleading slogan, as it makes the customers listen for totally wrong qualities. It has to be put in a context, to be understood. Musicality is NOT about sound, clarity or "hearing the different instruments better". It's all about musical unders...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

We can all agree that preserving the original is the intention, because reproduction is never perfect. But that's not preserving it is it? So you say "preserving the musical signal" is key, then which signal? That created in the recording studio? By each instrument? How it was recorded - or what co...

I'm sorry Music Lover, but you are either missing the point or not understanding it. If you're suggesting prevention is better than cure then of course no one can argue with that. In principle. But hey, it's not a perfect world, and no room is ever perfect. Compensating for room modes is the only a...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

What I find surprising is the shape of the new filters. Less cut but much broader. Sound is impacted across a wider area of frequencies. No longer just a limited, precise cut at specific frequencies. Seems to be a very different thinking behind it. I would have expected the opposite actually... J. ...

Apart from the commercial benefits to Linn from switching to KDSM only, it will also mean that in the future (Katalyst/2 and beyond) the best Linn streamer will mainly be used only by people who are signed up to the Linn philosophy of 'DVC is better than an analogue Preamp' and in many instances al...

Not difficult, the forum owner set the rules.
Here it is "compare equipment based on TD".
And we are discussing competitors equipment quite a lot, and it seems ok to criticise Lejonklou products.

Linn hasn't abandoned Tune Dem at all. It's still very central to their SO ethos. Linn abandoned TD (they removed it from their home page and stoped lecturing the method) but reintroduced it on the home page a few years back. I've visited numerous demos held by Ivor (80's and forward) and he always...

Re: New Linn Forum

I’d be quite happy if they dropped the Third Party section, there are other forums more suited. I don’t think it does Linn any favours and, in my opinion, attracts too many of the “my only piece of Linn is a pre-cirkus LP12 with no baseboard and I don’t understand Tunedem” variety. My take - censor...

Re: How Different Are We?

Reading up on the art of recording orchestras, there’s been an ongoing debate about what’s trying to be achieved since about 1930. There are two schools of thought: 1. Bring the venue to the listener ie recreate the sound of the orchestra. 2. Take the listener to the venue ie recreate the emotional...
