Re: MYsystem
I wouldn't bother going akurate active. Saves money and get better performance by buying a Lejonklou tundra, you'll be able to get a decent second hand one or new for much less than what you're planning on spending.

Re: Possibly time to move on from Akurate 242's but to what?
If you have a lot of glass and henceforth a fairly live sounding room then I totally understand why you're thinking of changing the speakers. For what it's worth the famed DJ, musician and record producer Mark Ronson has just purchased a pair of totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. He was so imp...

Brief recommendation for totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. £4999--£5999 depending on the finish and they dig really deep, are easy to position, look great, have a small footprint and would meet your requirements imo.

If you want to consider very slim and compact floorstanding speakers then please try to get look and listen at the totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. You'd also be surprised just how much more enjoyable a two channel passive system with a good amplifier can be compared to the set up you curren...

Re: Advice in upgrade path
I used to run active and passive ninkas. [...] My system improved and became more enjoyable and musical as I exchanged the linn pieces for Fred's stuff, I was so impressed. It was fun and I never expected these unassuming little boxes knocked up in Sweden by one bloke (more or less) to destroy the ...

Re: Advice in upgrade path
I used to run active and passive ninkas. Active with 2x lk140 and an lk85 on the treble. I had a kairn pre and a genki cd player. One of my most noticeable upgrades was changing the genki to a majik ds and next swapping out the kairn for an Exotik, source first but as good as it was years ago, the ...

Re: How to Rip music DVDs?
I also am interested in this. Kind of.
I have the new version of the crimson idol by WASP and there's a bluray with the album songs on it with a video. I wondered if there was any way to rip these because they should be higher quality than the cd files.

Re: Separate But Joined Up?
Which truly baffles me that some people still prefer akurate power over tundra. I appreciate that people are all different and have different ears etc but they're poles apart especially now after numerous improvements.

Cheaper but possibly not in the same league for sound quality but could be a better match. Its a shame you can't try both.

Re: Katan/Ninka/Espek Tweeter replacement
I think the hiquophon would be the best option personally. As for changing the sonic qualities, on the whole it was regarded as an improvement at the time by people who'd carried out the installation. I do seem to recall Fredrik not been that keen on the idea however but I could be mistaken.

Re: Linn Majik 109 and the competition
As a fan of the totem acoustic loudspeakers I'd recommended you to demo the totem sky. They received a product of the year award from hifi plus a couple of weeks ago. I also have a pair of immaculate 2016 rainmaker if you are interested but I don't think they'd be a massive upgrade, more like a side...

I think single amping and single wiring passive 109's sounds best. But with a 4200, you only need one 2200 and a set of aktiv cards to go aktiv. Nice upgrade, although a bit expensive, of course. Got to go listening to Isobarik with aktive bas and Akurate 4200 anybody heard them with Akurate 4200? ...

Bubble DS next is absolutely perfect. The best, most intuitive control point software I've ever used. It's well worth it. I paid for the original and next is even better.

Arro's are very good, I believe Carol kidd has a pair, the only thing I didn't like was the cheap crappy plinth.

Re: Speakers more tuneful than Linn
Linn majik 109 vs rega rx1 - linn just nudges it, more musical but a touch less detail. Linn majik 109 vs Totem arro - Totem but took a lot of positioning. Totem more engaging. Linn majik 109 vs ninka. 109, more detail and more enjoyable treble, musically more enjoyable and I preferred the bass with...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.
There's some recordings on YouTube Vince Bruzzese has done with his speakers and macintosh labs amps, and with headphones in they're stunning, so I think there's an opinion to be formed by such listening. However I appreciate the fact that you have to hear them in person to get a clearer picture. I ...
