Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Kan speaker stands and having no other speakers in the room would sort out the issues and you'd be able to have your mattress and records back in :0)
Re: HAKAI NAS
When I started with the HAKAI road trip, I had little to no knowledge of Linux. I went straight for OMV for the NAS, because I was thinking in a traditional way; a NAS needs NAS Software with services, users, raid options, etc. As of today, I understand Linux much more, and I agree with tokenbrit; ...
Re: HAKAI NAS
I recommend everybody to try out the Bridge function and connect the NAS directly to the HAKAI, and the HAKAI only connected to the NAS; it gave me quite an improvement for local music playing Without a router how can you control it Sopper!? Old: Internet - NAS - switch - HAKAI streamer New: Intern...

Re: Advice in upgrade path
I used to run active and passive ninkas. Active with 2x lk140 and an lk85 on the treble. I had a kairn pre and a genki cd player. One of my most noticeable upgrades was changing the genki to a majik ds and next swapping out the kairn for an Exotik, source first but as good as it was years ago, the ...

Re: HAKAI Build Help?
I have the F1CWS evo The ssd is screwed just under the top plate on a rooster. In the end I don’t think it matters much, horizontal or vertical. The FC1CWS evo is getting pretty warm, I don’t really like it. I have build the HAKAI NAS in a FC5 alpha This one is running much more cooler since it has...

Re: Does clearer lyrics = better tune?
I don’t get you, tbh. How do you really know what the song is about? Not a great example as naivety due to age also played a part when I first heard the song. 'The lunatic is on the grass' Even though on hearing this clearly on first hearing I had an image of a guy in a straight jacket rolling arou...

Re: DAC discussions
Alright, points noted We have a different approach it seems. In my world measurements are the first hints of a well designed unit. Measurements of distortion in audible range can’t be stated as “musical” distortion... In your world there is some kind of weird belief system going on that you have fa...

Re: DAC discussions
Since Debian Stretch in combination with MPD and Upmpdcli, the ESI is working perfectly, but makes Linux downsample to 16/44. Since I have Qobuz Sublime+ I’d like to find a dac capable of HR files. I would really like to try other DACs and maybe you can help me to find candidates. The DACs I like t...

Re: Does clearer lyrics = better tune?
So you are saying Spannko that its possible for something to tune dem better but you might understand less about what the vocalist is singing about. I find that very hard to believe and if that is the case the tune dem is seriously flawed No, I’m saying that clearer lyrics doesn’t equal better tune...
Re: Volumio.
I find this works well. Pick an album from your library and play album , then close Kazoo, listen to the album and when album finishes open Kazoo, then play another album and close kazoo then listen to the album and so on and so on. I know it does seem a very strange way to listen to music but you d...

Re: HAKAI playground
My experience with Bubble is that it has to be active in order to play the next track so it is definitely in the mix somehow. If the phone goes to sleep or you close the app the music will stop after the track has finished. With Kazoo the playlist is set up and it takes itself out of the mix and eve...

Re: Does clearer lyrics = better tune?
I wouldn’t say so. I think intelligibility and tune playing are two different things. I suspect that you mean that clarity and tunefulness are two different things; if you do, I agree with you, but I think that changes the answer to the original question. In a good song, words and music are essenti...

Re: HAKAI playground
The difference between A and B is which android app I used to start the song. A = BubbleDS. B = Linn Kazoo. I definitely prefer B myself. Lumin and BubbleUPnP sound the same as BubbleDS. Only Kazoo is different and IMHO much better musically. I don't understand how this is possible! The app crashes...

Re: HAKAI playground
This is my first experiment! I recorded on my laptop so apologies for the awful sound quality. :-D I am playing on HAKAI -> MDSi -> M109. There is one difference between the clips. Re: Cartridge rebuild
This is all theory, but I wouldn't expect it to sound like any Goldring cartridge. The design of the Arkiv/Akiva are quite different to anything Goldring themselves make. Also as they have access to Ogura stylus/coil assemblies they are likely to be able to get one that is a close match to the orig...
