Re: GIGAPORT HD/HD+

I don’t know if this issue have been solved all reddy. Just played one of the few 24/96 and both Volumio and Kazoo say “24/96”. Latest Volumio installed. I think it's just showing the rates of the source material, not what it sends to the DAC. If I play a 192/24 FLAC, Volumio merrily displays that ...

Re: Tune Dem of Headphones

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Amazing. I need to hear them at some point. [...] a really good headphone amp. Source First - the headphone amp is more important than the headphones. And I know some headphones can change a lot when being driven properly. I haven't got around to doing this yet, althoug...

Re: Tune Dem of Headphones

I'd bring my Bose NC700 as a reference and they say they're ready for some combat. I recently compared with my three OLD (even close to ancient) favorite AKG's (550, K24P and K420). Oh my, things have improved in 10+ years. They're so far behind that it's hard to comprehend. Hang on, I gotta check ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Here are two clips of a comparison I did a while back. It's a 48/16 fixed level mono recording done with a USB microphone via ALSA, directly to WAV. I wasn't sure what to expect from this comparison. No difference? Imagination-level differences? That's not what I found. Let's hear what you think. :)...

Since that thread is about the Radikal motor touching one of the Trampolin's feet, I'm less convinced it is the same issue.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Here’s another couple of mains cable experiment videos. The setups are identical except for the ground/earth cables being star connected in two different positions. One is at the equipment end, where the power flexes would be plugged into the wall/power strip, and the other is star connected at the...

In room the differences aren’t that small, but after listening to the clips I can understand the difficulty. I have made three new clips, hopefully it will be easier this time. Two are the same cable, but in one I have done a little tweak. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xmlg8wgzb8xa99/Video%2031.10.19%...

how about a headphone amp with 3 inputs and a preamp out so it can do double duty as a preamp. It is something others have done [...] I was going to suggest that too. I've seen some such products, and for me personally, exactly the product I'm looking for. I have no idea how different a preamp desi...

The conclusion to my Supra USB cable drama (see above)... Of course I never got any technical feedback from the firm I got the cable (and the replacement) from. They just, finally, accepted the return and I got my money back. Fast forward a month, and I happened upon the same cable at a different on...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Couldn't resist some cheap Royd Minstrels since they are supposed to be a good match for the Nait. First surprise is their size - dinky little things - can't offer much more cabinet space than a pair of Katans. Not as tuneful or refined as Keilidhs but with only 2 drive units they sound a bit more ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I ended up with B, A, B. But I wonder if there isn't something too wrong with recording 3A. It sounds very muffled in comparison, and the whole perspective shifts mid-clip (something that doesn't happen in 3B, so it must be the recording).

Unfortunately, I currently don't have a single machine with an optical reader, and apart from my gaming rig, all of them run Linux. Trying out re-ripping with iTunes is something I will probably not do unless I happen to buy an external DVD-drive that I can connect to the Windows box. Which seems hi...
