Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

So far so good - 308T keeping its connection with Kalla #017 and 108 with Kallla #020. And the 108T v3 working fine with the cat 5 cables to my sneakys. Lets hope this is the end of my network issues. Thanks for all the advice and help - its been very helpful to understand how the routers work and I...

Re: Recommended network components

Thanks That’s good to know I wish I had known before ordering the 108T v3 which seems to be the culprit with Kalla dropping off the network . My 308T is with Kalla #017 ands sounds really good. #020 is linked to an older 108 and so far so good. The errant 108 T had been relegated to serve my Linn sn...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Yes - I was thinking along the same lines. If the 108 keeps Kalla #020 on the network and the 308T and #017 hit it off - then a second 308T might be the best option for now. It did work without issues for months with #020. I know my physician ( if I had one) would definitely prescribe this for me on...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Which "Virgin router" do you have - is it the Hub 5? There are quite a few Virgin forum posts about the Hub 5 being poor as a router, with similar DHCP vagaries as you describe, but decent as a modem. You might want to consider investing in a new home router, and leave your Virgin one to modem duti...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Thanks for the advice and support-really appreciated - I would never dare to any of this tinkering without it. Although I am in the rabbit hole , as yet I’m not going continuing to go down it and. always see a way out. I’ll do as you suggest and reserve the addresses for the Kallas as soon as they p...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Still in the rabbit hole - but mercifully no collateral damage - yet. Changing names didn’t work - but did remind me that it is only the Kalla with firmware v19 which allows this and not the standard v16! Changing the IP addresses to ‘ out of the range of my other devices (. I used .250 and .251) di...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Thanks again everyone. I will have to take a deep breath and psyche myself up for adjusting the routers DHCP range , Going back into the Kallas and setting fixed IP addresses above 250, ( perhaps .300 and .333, ) so as not to clash, would be easier, as I can follow the ' instructions for beginners' ...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

I’ll double check the names are as I had set them up : 017 was left as the original ‘ Lejonklou’ with a fixed IP address .200 020 was set up as ‘Kalla’ fixed IP address .222 I noted yesterday my router’s DHCP is giving out addresses right up to and beyond the ones above - yesterday one device had .2...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Good idea - I will try the renaming. Now that I am getting over my irrational fears of going ' user menus' on these devices I should be able to do this without my breathing becoming too rapid and my palms sweating. This is the second 108T I have tried downstairs. I cant remember if I have already tr...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Thanks again , I’ve done some investigating - out of my comfort zone , but I pressed on. My BT Mesh units do not function as routers and do not ascribe IP addresses to any devices. I logged into the units to confirm and checked with the technical dept. However in the virgin Hub router I can see only...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

One more thing regarding TM3s in my system. I am able to play as loud as I want -and it just sounds great. Previously, I was never quite happy above a certain level . Now there is no limit - in fact TM3s positively encourage me to push it- just fantastic. I realised with Sagatun Monos that with a gr...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

Thanks guys I wish I understood a little bit more about networks - I’m always impressed with the knowledge base on the forum. I only have one router but two wi fis , one provided by the virgin router and the other by my BT mesh units , which my Kallas connect to . I’m not sure what the ‘DHCP reserve...

Re: Network Issues (was: Källa loses IP addresses)

The following post and ensuing discussion was moved here from the Recommended network components thread. -Moderator Quick question regarding one of my Netgear GS 108T switches. On my Kalla downnstairs - I keep losing the Kalla on the network overnight, and have to turn off and on again the GS 108T....

Yes -captivating and at times bewitching, evocative and haunting; and every other emotion one can attach to beautifully reproduced music. It has given me a new found respect for the amazing talents of the musicians artists and recording studios, as well as the designers and manufacturers of the equi...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

I’ve had the TM3s now for a couple of weeks, and they have got better and better. Right from unpacking it was clear that they were something special and I was amazed at how much improvement they bring to my system. It now feels like one of the biggest upgrades I’ve done to the system and I now under...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Yes - Marco managed to locate a new pair so I went for it. Before Brexit I just used to send the units to Fredrik. Now it’s quite a convoluted process and takes much longer. From what Thomas and Marco have said, I’m sure I would have been just as pleasantly shocked by the upgraded ones. My monos are...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

These TM3 s are spectacularly good - simply unbelievable. My system has been transformed , from the musicality to the sound and seemingly everything in between. Even the soundstage, which I am not too concerned with is there in spades. I did not think it was even possible for power amplifiers to do ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Sounds like your timescales has been similar to Marcos - and my wait was unavoidable. I think we are very lucky on this Forum to have trusted ‘ears’ doing these reviews as demos of this sort of thing are unavailable to most of us. I haven’t listened to a demo at a dealer in years ( other than Majik ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Decisions - decisions. After reading Marco's review I would not upgrading but go for complete new TM3s. Always easier when you're 'spending' someone else's money ;) Once you factor in the resale value of the TM2.2s - probably not that much in it . I suppose the better used value of the TM3 is also ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Thanks Your impression that the TM3s are better but would need a direct A to B comparison to notice is very helpful. I’m leaning towards the upgrades. BTW I can’t believe that I have been waiting impatiently for Marco to come back from his holidays for his review and all that time you have been sitt...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Thanks for the review Marco- well worth the wait. That the upgraded TMs are a huge upgrade , but not quite as musical as new TM3s is kind of what I was expecting - and it’s not making my decision any easier . I was hoping you might say that there was some sonic differences but just as musical. Part ...

That’s some bike ride - but hopefully he’s had time to have done the comparison before going away - and will be feeling refreshed enough to share for a few words of wisdom soon after returning. If they are as good as I expect - it’s going to be a tough decision between upgrading and selling them on ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

TM 3. 027/028 ( upgraded TM2s)

This is for Marco

Any reports on how these compare to standardTM3s.

I’m expecting them to be a huge upgrade on TM2 and very close to brand new TM3s.

Re: Tundra Mono 3

Listening to Tundra mono 3 fresh out the box. I appreciate they need some use to reach peak performance, but already they are something very special. Just with Linn 109 I keep getting distracted from other tasks, Radio Paradise is warming them up, I keep making a note of what’s playing, always a go...
