Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?
I'm not sure if this is a sarcastic question or not Spannko as what I am talking about is one of the main purposes of the waterfall measurement .It's how a speaker handles short sharp tones. My bad, I presumed the fact you gave waterfalls as an example that you had came across them .Please expand yo...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?
I decided to ask the bot for an explanation. Not sure how accurate it is ChatGPT "The main point of a waterfall measurement is to provide a visual representation of the decay of sound over time at different frequencies. This information is important in understanding how a loudspeaker or a room respon...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?
Good question Lego! Strictly speaking, all of the T&S parameters have the potential to affect a drive units musicality. This is something which is determined at the drive unit design stage, more for enclosure matching options than musicality. What I meant to say was it’s not possible to predict how...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?
It’s worth pointing out that absolutely not one of the T&S parameters have even the slightest influence on a speakers ability to play a tune. And while I’m at it, frequency response, THD, waterfalls and any other measurement you care to mention, have absolutely no relationship with a speakers tune ...

Re: Is Spotify all of a sudden sounding better these days ?
In the last couple of days I found intelligibility has improved and easier to follow bass notes .I thought it was all my tinkering then same improvements on my phone on way to work.Damn ! Anyone else experienced this ? Did you recently disable the data saver setting? Hi John, Hmm,I don't think so,b...

Re: Recommended network components
I do not know which WiFi-to-Ethernet converter Fredrik found sounding better than a cabled connection but from the reports on other audio forums this device seems to fulfill this qualification: https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/range-extender/re650/ We haven't tested that particular model,...

Re: Recommended control points
Excellent jajo! I’ve been curious about the Spotify app on Apple TV, but still haven’t tested it. Apple TV to Källa is dangerous (time wise). For me it has transformed rather cheesy TV series into fascinating storytelling. Background music really grips us and the dialogue is much more intense. Test...

In the first set ,there was better intelligibility with the 308s but the guitar playing felt less integrated with the singer compared to the K.

Re: Is Källa the GOAT?
The simple fact is when it comes to audio reproduction there are generally quite a few tradeoffs, the problem is a lot of hifi manufacturers audiophile/music lovers etc tend to have a hard time coming to terms with this or believe they have/make the best hifi system in the world and that all else is ...

Re: Linn Kan 1 Setup
Thanks Tom although I don't fancy that at all. I've compared a couple of other late Kan 1s and they did sound distinctly more neutral - I should have made a note of the serial numbers. Have you (or anyone else) ever tried putting screws into the floor and then sitting the spikes in the screw heads?...

Hoisted by my own petard 😁
A is the non remastered track which is way better musically than the remastered(mono).
Although during the A version the horns come in at a very high level close to being uncomfortable which is slightly strange.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I did not say that "Moanin' on Spoty sounds terrible" - you appear to be inferring & implying that. There are multiple listings of Moanin' on Spotify, and a couple sound better than the others - it just takes a bit of diggin' to find them... Interestingly, the 2 that seem more musical are not marke...

Hold on Tokenbrit are you seriously suggesting digital remasters of early 80s CDs are worse than the original early CDs releases and the sound of Moanin' on Spoty sounds terrible.!!??Say it ain't so Joe . I don't know if I can accept that crown... Brilliant Tendaberry: humility then go on to give a superb history lesson that's little short of a (self) coronation 😂 I was fascinated, and I'm not that into jazz 😜 Looking for Moanin' on Spotify highlights where digital streaming falls short as it seems ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Think the whole P10 discussion could do with its own thread, ideally with clips as this seems off topic without, especially here, and a long way from John's Technics vs 'party of the 3rd parts' LP12. Your right on your many counts Tokenbrit, this sidestep has taken up too much bandwidth. And to Leg...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I think quite a few people on here underestimate the importance of the setup of an LP12, so for me fleeting statements like a P10 is better than an Lp12 is almost risible and getting close to misinformation..My LP12 set up by, fill in the blank ,sounded worse than P10 would be much more informative...
