Re: Linn Launch Event

My ten Cents. The KK dual mono pre is superb, I was convinced it couldn’t be bettered. I was wrong. The MDSM/2 KAT DVC is easily better and that’s why I changed from KK KDSM KAT. I thought long and hard about changing from analog volume control to digital but in the end....... Just my opinion and re...

Re: LP12 Counterweights For Heavier Cartridges

Check with your dealer because Linn make a heavier counterweight for Ekos.

Also, some of Linn headshells are quite small so worthwhile checking it will fit.

Re: Spendor A4

I had some Spendor A6 once. Rather relaxed, unexciting to some ears, restful to others. Not the same as the A4 - I know. But the A6s were greatly improved to replacing all the push-on plugs and sockets inside with nice solder joints. Came to life a lot. Still not as dynamic and musical as the Totem...

Re: Akurate DSM mc versus Linto?

To answer your specific question, the Linto is much better than the on board MC stage. Did this dem with friends back to back. No contest.

You have a Linto so you can do the dem and evaluate for yourself.

Happy listening.

Re: Akurate DS versus DSM

Well, at Linn HQ a group of us old Linn site members, including me, heard a back to back dem of Klimax DS and DSM all Kat. All agreed the DS was better overall even with HDMI turned off on the DSM. I’m running a DDSM Kat to allow connection of my Urika 1, although I have to say DS is superior. The s...

Re: Akurate/0 upgrade to Akurate/3 katalyst

Rest easy. The Kat version is a major lift in performance and musicality. The volume control is especially good.

Phone the Linn helpline regarding delivery time as there may be issues with component availability on upgrades and contact your dealer?

Re: New LP12 part (rumors)

I feel that the pandemic has temped many customers to push the button on new purchases e.g. unspent funds for holidays and increased time at home..... seems to have resulted in increased lead time for new equipment. Combine the healthy order book with a squeeze on component supply due to pandemic on...

Looks to me that too much force has been applied causing such a large indent and also looks like an open spanner has been used instead of a correctly sizes socket.

Re: Karousel

No torques on the LP12 vary with the deck, as far as I'm concerned. The fasteners all have their optimal (and suboptimal) peaks and they are not interdependent. I think the point ThomasOK made (I can't find his quote) was that each Keel, Radikal and plinth will vary so having precise and consistent...

Re: Linn Ekos SE

I’m sure Thomas will provide professional advice on this one. For what it’s worth the Ekos SE is factory set with a residual bias. There are good reasons for this as described by David Williamson, Linn Chief Product Engineer; I cant recall the exact reasons offhand. You can prevent the arm skating u...

Cirkus to Karousel OK here’s my initial opinions on Cirkus change to Karousel on my Klimax LP12; done on Saturday. First off I’d like to thank the folks at Loud and Clear, Glasgow, particularly Johnnie of AO for his epic installation/rebuild and to Ian Pirie for making it happen. I’m not affiliated ...

Using headphones on PC. I played JH2 first 3 times to familiarise myself with the timing and confidently predict notes. I then played JH1. I could not discern any difference in my ability to predict notes. I found the initial plays of JH2 rather unengaging, but when I played JH1 I had no problem li...

Karousel needs some days to run in. The first hours I noticed that there are more information, lower noice floor and all the other HiFi-Arguments. Re: Twin/D vs non Dynamik Solo.

The Lejonklou and Linn amps are excellent. I have gone though the journey from A200D to Solos non Dynamik then to Solos D; all with A242 Mk 2. My findings were that the A200 couldn’t make the speakers sing. Change to non Dynamik Solos was a completely new world of music, so effortless and musical. D...
