Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Can you help educate us on what to listen for. Is there a good example at a certain point. I just hear a song, with the notes in after digital sounding more jumbled up. No, sorry. This is my last try to see if it can be heard through the clips. :-) But your decription is right. You hear a change. Y...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I’ve only compared the before digital and after digital, for now. Can’t cope with any more than that :) Sorry beck, but I still prefer before. I just get into the groove of the music more. You are too quick. I have to get the clips sorted! :-) I just want to know if any can hear the change in the r...

Sorry for trying once more. I just find this very interesting: Before (digital remaster): https://www.dropbox.com/s/1l5iv9qsmbd7mo4/Video%2012-06-2018%2009.52.07.mov?dl=0 Before (analog): https://www.dropbox.com/s/036kp9a29cu48jg/Video%2012-06-2018%2009.53.24.mov?dl=0 After (digital remaster): https...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

The one thing that is left to comment on is that with my after setup the squeeze of the intervals in the music is gone from the digital recordings. I could not play convincingly together with the digital recordings using the before setup. Tone is further away from playing with analog tube recordings...

The next step will be Lejonklou making clips for us to comment on before making final decision about a new amp! ;-)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

1st/before for me too, fwiw. It is funny and I do not think it only is me that find it easier to listen to other peoples clips than ones own. The difference being that you have heard your own system before you recorded it and made some choices based on the sound in the room. Being close to what is ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

As always good input from the forum. It makes sense for me to play ping pong this way. :-) Next step for me will be to get my Ekos tracking force dial repaired! I prefer the first clip on this one as well. Easier to follow and more emotion in the voice. I do find that the differences don't appear to...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I like the “fatter” laid back sound from my first “Blue” clip. I find it more fulfilling in some ways. I think it's a sound that suits the laid back style of that song, that's all. However, it's harder to follow the instruments and likely to be less satisfying across all your listening. I think mus...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercice

And right you are! The clips say it all. :-) Now, I am walking in a minefield here but as this is so important to me I have to do it! Standing at a crossroad I have to choose my way forward. What if I am really only doing digitally recorded/remastered vinyl a favour here? What if trying to bridge th...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Closing my Ekos setup hunt everything has come out on top. I have lost nothing but gained even more. More focus and togetherness. The slightly missed “romance” is back and I am happy! :-) Great, win/win then. "romance" is an interesting word. Like anything we write, I might think I know what you me...

Guide to the “playground”

Being kind of surprised that the “playground” tread has become what it is now I think it is time to help others to try it out. An easy way to start is to get a (free of charge) dropbox account. There you can store your video clips taken with your smartphone/tablet. I use my ipad. Just use the video ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

All hands on deck! We need as many answers as possible.

A way of answering would be discribing what one hear in each clip maybe not even finding a preferred one!

I prefer option 1 (though slightly missing the more open top on option 2).

P.S. I just love how your system grooves Charlie1!

I agree Thomas! :-). Each time I hear the horn I start to giggle. It must be because of me being a musician reacting on its pitch being a quarter note to high at max changing with the pressure from the hand!
