Just trying to be the devils advocate here so excuse me, no offence intended. Why should bass level affect tune dem leading to a readjustment on the speakers? So if you increase volume on the Pre you need to...(you get it) And - when you change the active card settings, you need to get bac...

Perfect! I try doing this as well and this is easy (but time consuming) on depth and side but during toe in adjustment - it's difficult to get all the mm correct. Do you have the inner front speaker corner at same position or the middle of the baffle? I also understand a few people having other corn...

My feeling is that the electronics shouldn't affect placement, but in reality when I do big changes to a system (but the speakers remain unchanged), I can retune and sometimes find a slightly different speaker position. Exactly why I asked in the first place... Assuming the speaker were perf...

3/ 224 is only working on recent Unidisks and not (yet) adapted to older units? 4/ Linn isn't releasing software versions to dealers anymore? (Reason?) 3/ can't be true. See 2/ Lets not hope 4/ is correct. If so...another bad policy decision  Fredrik, what about you asking Linn re "best ever ...

Why isn't ESS 224 released as official upgrade yet? I can only think of the following: 1/ Linn working on 225...as they have bugs and/or sound related issues in 224. 2/ new or serviced Unidisk units are shipped with 224 as it correct technical issues in 223 (and 221), and Linn focus more on stabilli...

Source upgrade require speaker tuning?
Suppose the speakers are positioned correctly (tune dem), is an amp, source, rack, cable upgrade require a re-tuning of the speakers?

I think one of the major problems is that Naim is very sensitive to the mains quality and the switched power supplies Linn use ruins the tune for Naim systems. Have same experience as Erik. Pity as both brands are REALLY REALLY good. Re Naim DSP's, you should try CDS1, CDS2 or CDS3. They are much b...

Disclaimer -as I wrote, just used their own headsets. The result may be different with a good headphone.

No, I haven't heard anything close to the Sandisk, regardless of price. I absolutely hated everything portable and compressed that I listned to. I have tried many different portable units without bothering to remember their names. (Ipods, Creative, Sony etc.) . Have you tried Ipod shuffle? In a "OK...

Re: Now I know what Tune Dem is
First impressions with the CDX2 in my living room (as compared to Karik/Numerik): The CDX2 is better at playing sounds, but no match for the music rendering of the K/N combo To be fair, Naim needs a few days warming up. If it's a brand new unit it need weeks... Please let it play CD's for some days...

Interesting Fredrik! Must be rather small musical differences between 221 and 223, as you need a full CD to make your mind up and not just a few seconds "normal" tune dem. And in that case, it may not be SO strange that some people prefer the 223. We talking small differences here compared to 221 vs...

How is SW upgrades enhancing the tune...
What is it that makes it possible to enhance the sound by SW upgrade? I can understand it for Unidisk´s as better reading/decoding improve the sound, but Exotik and Klimax Kontrol? And what is the latest re Unidisk SW? Brand new Unidisk´s have a new SW not yet released as an official upgrade. And th...

Re: K/N, Ikemi and Majik
I borrowed an Ikemi home a few years ago, and my wife and I compared the tunefulness of the Ikemi and the Karik/Numerik. Interestingly, the addition of silver interconnects to my K/N combo at the time brought out a whole lot more music than exchanging the K/N for Ikemi (with black interconnects), s...

A few other ideas: - be not alone! a few friends that can assist is super. (best is to have "non HIFI" persons at hand, females are GREAT following the tune as they do NOT listen to the sound...) - stand in the kitchen (you then avoid the HIFI sound, and can follow the tune easier) - controversial b...

Or maybe it's just the fact that your never satisfied with your equipment... Not really, better equipment reduce room-related issues YES but you should not have a boomy bass.
