Re: EVENTS
Yes happy Thanksgiven. But remember, Kalla mean source in Samer (Scandinavian natives language), so let’s also honour the real sources of America, the Native People and mourn with them because of their massive losses since 1620. Thank you, Arjen, for your eloquent words. To the First Nations and in...

Re: A token...
I'm curious to know more about your current network setup. Are you now using the Airport Express to stream to HAKI from something like Quoboz/Spotify/etc. rather than using a local NAS? If so do you find that an improvement over the LS-NAS?

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Very enjoyable and insightful. I concur with the LP12 DILEMMA. Ah, LP12 versus Kalla dilemma. Isn’t this the wrong dilemma, for shouldn’t you compare streamers with streamers, turntables with turntables and judge every device on its own merit? So the Kalla might beat other streamers, but don’t let ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I listened on both my phone (most musical device I own) and my computer (least musical device I own) and preferred B on both, but I was second guessing my decision because B sounds more hifi to me too. I just listened again and I still prefer B.

Re: Noisy HAKAI
Wivout doubt you've unearthed the problem Agreed. The clips cannot convey the extent to which this change has elevated the music. HAKAI has always been really good, but this is getting silly! I'm currently playing Janis Ian Hunger , an album I'm fairly familiar with...or so I thought. I encountered...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
I concur with your criteria, Thomas. In this case the OP was a question posted by Charlie1 (who has been conspicuous in his absence lately...anyone know what's up?) who wondered if there were any record labels, or eras of recordings, which were considered more tuneful than others. I felt this tippe...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
I would think if it is mostly about the recordings, artists, pressings, etc. it would go in the music category (although even that last one might be argued). If it is about how tuneful a recording, medium, piece of gear, cable, setup, etc. is it wouldn't belong there but in one of the other categor...

Glad to hear that you like it! Your thanks should mainly be directed to our excellent moderator, markiteight. He's the mastermind behind the changes. You're too modest, Fredrik! This was very much a collaboration that started shortly after I became moderator with Fredrik and I bouncing ideas back a...

Thank you, fatjulio!
I was reminded that I had read that post but apparently completely forgot about it. I'll give a cheater plug a try and see if that makes a difference.

Noisy HAKAI
I'm running into a bit of an issue with my HAKAI. With no music playing I can hear a rhythmic (about 1 second intervals) burst of what I can best describe as digital noise from the speakers. Since installing the JBL 308Ps this noise has become a bit more pronounced, to the point where I can hear it ...

Re: It really ties the room together
Dave and Tony, you make some very good points, and they feature heavily in my own internal debate. Things I keep reminding myself while the debate rages: Källa doesn't need to be connected to the internet. It can play from a NAS on a local network that's isolated from the internet, but it's at its b...

Re: It really ties the room together
I am listening at the moment to my Mark1 308s with Kalla#017 (just set up) and Giella Pi and shaking my head in disbelief at what these active speakers can do. Enjoy! Oh my...I can only imagine how enjoyable that must be. Mere weeks ago I was thoroughly convinced I would never, ever part with my LP...

Re: It really ties the room together
With the Zu (after) vs JBL clips - I find the JBLS much more musical and enjoyable- and by a country mile. If the costs were reversed, and I could live with the aesthetics and stand mounted speakers - I would still opt for the JBLs. Which stands are you using Mi8? The Omens offer a more rhythmic/dy...

Deltaco SATA cable? Is "direction reversed" with or against text from mobo to SSD? Yes it's the Deltaco cable. "Direction reversed" (That way) is 'with text' from mobo to drive. IIRC we don't know how consistent is Deltaco's manufacturing, so what works for me may not work for you. Best to check yo...

Re: It really ties the room together
Your last comparison is to my ears so close that I for a moment was wondering if it was the same system playing twice....... After listening to the clips I wondered the same thing. The differences I hear live are diminished in the recordings, which makes me suspect that those differences are of the...
