Re: EVENTS
Thank you Sunbeam! I wish I'd heard your system at Wigwam as well. It appears a lot of people were impressed. I don't seem to have updated the thread from all that time ago with feedback from Wigwam visitors. Interesting to see the focus on the speakers, almost at the expense of noticing they have ...

Re: Tundra Stereo 2.5
My face is still red from the time I compared power strips and power cords, when the A/B comparisons involved powering down all or some of the kit.... But now I accept it, and wait. It's worth it! I'm not sure how knowing why would help... Knowing why will make no difference whatsoever to the liste...

Re: Tundra Stereo 2.5
@lejonklou Are you able to explain why, even when Tundra is left powered up, that it comes on song after about 20 minutes of playing actual music playing please? It doesn't even seem to be related to the volume it is playing. Thanks Are you sure it’s the Tundra warming up and not the speakers? Yep,...

Re: Källa As A Streamer
In David Neel's system Spotify was the preference over his LSNAS. In my own system I found music from Melco was preferable to Spotify. The whole chain continues to be important. I have found that some music on my NAS is more musical than the recording available on Spotify, and vice versa. The chain...

Re: Källa As A Streamer
I think there's a note of caution here. Just saying "a NAS" I think is too simplistic. Remember all the debate about various versions Hakai as a NAS and all the experimentation that went in to LSNAS? A NAS is an important component in the chain - as, I expect, is the tech used to rip CDs to a NAS in...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Having heard NGKDSM analogue into Tundra 2.5 and the PMCs, it would be very interesting to compare that with Kalla / Sagatun Monos. How did the NGKDSM into Tundra and PCMs sound compared to the Källa/Sagatun monos/Tundra monos/LS5/9 you heard at DN’s. Please don’t just say they’re different! Did th...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
the effect of Exakt is ones you are invested into it its difficult to come out of it - its difficult to integrate other products into an Exakt system than Linn and than you end up paying more for upgrades as if you would only upgrade the source (see Katalyst upgrades) - I dont like those kind of de...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
I can't say that really. As per earlier posts there are too many variables and it really needs a full Kalla/analogue stack vs a full Exakt stack into the same speakers that work for both systems (Kudos; Ninka; LS5/9 as examples), both with all the ancillaries best optimsed for each. I would say tha...

Thank you sunbeamgls! Firstly for your kind words about my system. It was a very rushed visit, and when you asked me later a couple of questions about the music, I was offline. So a couple of detail corrections! The more observant among you will have read that I have a Sagatun mono and 2x Tundra mo...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Exaktly :-) AFAIK, in contrast Fredrik found that digital signals are quite fragile and he keeps the digital signal path short. They are very fragile when it comes to transferring music and less fragile when it comes to transferring data . Yes, music is data, but when the final step is music reprod...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
That slogan was utter marketing nonsense, as we all know, and is irrelevant to any sensible discussion about Exakt. I am not interested in starting a war regarding Exakt - it is fine that we have different opinions about the performance of this solution. For me personally, it is a big step in the w...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
That slogan was utter marketing nonsense, as we all know, and is irrelevant to any sensible discussion about Exakt. Marketing nonsense or not - it describes perfectly well how Exakt works and why it is a bad match with an external source like Källa or LP12. Exakt is built on the belief that data ca...
