Re: Linn 50th Anniversary

You are all welcome. They are serial numbered as 1/250 - 250/250. The one I worked on was in the 20s. The other parts of the table all follow normal Linn serial numbering including the LP12-50 specific items: the Keel-50, Radikal-50 and Urika-50. As to a new arm, one never knows. But why after all L...

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary

I have posted this on Wam/Linn and felt I should post it here as well. I have now set up my first LP12-50 (with several more coming later). I will save some of you some time right now by stating up front that I cannot give you any musical comments on the unit. I only listened to it through an older ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3

I just thought I'd chime in on not getting used to how musical and attention-grabbing the system is with the TM3s in place. I keep on getting caught off guard by tracks here and there streaming out one or another mellow jazz playlist. But it is not just me. Virtually every time my friend Simon comes...

Re: Recommended network components

I just tried port 3 on mine connected to the GS308T and Källa and found it was indeed better, thanks. It had been in port 1 which had already sounded good. I unplugged and replugged the connector into port 1 first to make sure I wasn't comparing a dirty contact to a clean one. Then listened to 1 and...

Re: Recommended network components

The AmpliFi HD units have been unavailable for some time and don't look to be coming back (the US store doesn't even list AmpliFi units and the Canadian store shows the HD unit as sold out, other stores show it as out of stock or back-ordered). Has anyone tried other mesh network senders and receive...

Re: Recommended network components

Interesting! I'll have to try that on my receiver. The sender has all ports used as it is the switch for my MacPro and two printers. However, the fourth port goes over to a Netgear switch and my TV system (with last analog version Majik DSM, AppleTV 4K, Sony 4K BluRay and LG panel) so using port 3 f...

Re: Is there a “best” test track?

Well, I was going to lay off this thread as I'm not fond of the idea of a "best" test track, especially many of the ones I hear used (or was that overused) at Hi-Fi shows. But some interesting thoughts popped up from some of the music mentioned, including a couple of stories. One is about The Roches...

Looking good, Fredrik! It is nice to see photos of how it looks and the insides. It will be even better to see a back panel that says 115V-60Hz! ;-)

Re: Which rack shelf?

Overall I think Tendaberry is likely right. However in looking at your system thread I notice you have Quadrapire with a mix of glass and wood. I think the material will have an effect on the musical performance as well. You might want to pull the Axis and Kinki off the rack temporarily and listen t...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here

I have mixed feelings about locking older threads although I can understand limiting new members access if this is becoming a problem (as it appeared to me in the thread that brought this up). Closing old threads doesn't seem as good an idea to me as we do sometimes have threads that have been dorma...

Re: Is Spotify all of a sudden sounding worse these days ?

I haven't really noticed any loss of quality lately. Just a couple of days ago I upgraded to 8.8.70.643 on my iPad Mini6 and iPhone 8+ (which I rarely use for streaming). I switched to a different jazz playlist so I can't be definitive on it but when I started playing after the upgrade I thought it ...

A really interesting video! : https://youtu.be/9QlaAFVA6qs?feature=shared Yes, really interesting. I can see Nait 1’s going up in value yet again. Charlie1’s museum must be raising in value faster than gold! 😁 Agreed. I certainly enjoyed the Nait 1 more than the other two. And, yes, I used to have ...

Re: The conclusion of digital volume regulation

I have yet to hear a DVC that is as musical, engaging and rhythmic as a good analog preamp. Even the latest KDSM with the Organic DAC, while it is better than the predecessors, still is more musical to me through a KK and significantly more so through Sagatun Monos or even a Giella ∏. While Linn's D...

Re: What about Ron The Mon?

Indeed. I have talked to Tony Tune-age several times, most recently within the last few months, and I believe he is fine. It has been a little longer since I have seen Ron but I think he was at an event held at the store in the spring and was doing well. I guess they just haven't had much to say up ...

Thanks Your impression that the TM3s are better but would need a direct A to B comparison to notice is very helpful. I’m leaning towards the upgrades. Re: Tundra Mono 3

I have only a partial, but not definitive, statement on the musicality of the TM3 upgraded unit vs. the new TM3. The reason this is partial is due to the circumstances I had in doing the comparison. We are talking a unit I just upgraded with maybe 15 hours on it compared to a new unit with hundreds ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

By the way, clip M forced me to immediately find the lyrics and listen to the complete song. What a simple yet powerful and immediate piece of music!

Just listening to it on YouTube (admittedly through JBL LSR305s) brought a tear to my eye. I'm afraid of the effect if/when I go pull out the LP.

Re: More About Powering a System

Interesting findings. Preamp first and Radikal second has always been the most musical. In my case Källa is fourth (Radikal being third due to Sagatun Monos being 1 and 2). Since I have nine items to plug in (2 SINGularity and 2 TM3 fill out the strip and a Kremlin direct into the wall) I don't get ...

Probably right. Sometimes I have the feeling these are two different hobbies. The ones who wanted to be engaged with the music and the others who loved a specific sound. Nothing against a good sound, but what is it worth if it is limiting the the musical massage. For me music first😊👍 Very well said...
