Re: Is aktiv operation best in all respects (same quality amp)?
With the 350s (passive, 350P) you can only only go Activ with the Tuneboxes (Klimax 350 Tunebox Active Crossovers). You then need 4 amps - mine were 4 Klimax twins. I had been running the 350P's passive for months previously with the same 4 twins and type of cabling. Playing and testing through a CD...

When I went from passive to Activ with my 350s, the results were more clarity, coherence and enjoyment.

Re: How to clean vinyl records
Thanks Thomas.
I may well get the gold audioquest one. I can't argue with the logic that the same factories are making it for several companies, but also have enough experience to know that sometimes they use a slightly different spec. Anyway It is £1 cheaper (yes!) than the Audio Technica on Amazon.

Re: How to clean vinyl records
Thanks Pete & Motty. Pete - I read a few reviews of the Audio Technica on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-AT6011-Anti-Static-Record-Brush/dp/B01GE1ZOPY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_pl_foot_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 some say the bristles come off onto the record / scratch the record. I would think this is s...

Re: How to clean vinyl records
Hi All,
Having read most of this thread, I have a very simple (hope!) query. Does anyone recommend a particular brush to use to wipe the most obvious layer of dust by hand off a record?
I think I will not bother with cleaning fluids or machines.
Cheers.

Re: New bases 242
The new bases definitely help with improved sound and definition. I think if you listen without expectation before fitting and then after fitting, you will hear the real true difference. I didn't need to reposition speakers with the new bases. Once you have them, you will realise they are a must. It...

Re: Place the electronics in a separate room
From my experience, adding a weight on top of HiFi gear does not help. Whilst it may reduce some vibrations (Which I could tell it did) I have found it to reduce musicality and make it less enjoyable to listen to. This was on klimax & Akurate gear. On a related but slightly different note, I have us...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem
Ok that's the best my lp12 has ever sounded. I carried out the modification on Sunday and the sound is more coherent, a bit more expressive but the bass timing and quality of bass is one of the best noticeable improvements. To give some background: when I had a keel and radical fitted by a Linn deal...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem
Hi Spannko,
Thanks for the info. I think it would be a little too tricky for me in reality to try and source 3 different wood to try. Especially as I do not have a jig... I need this to be a one-time affair..
Cheers.

Re: LP12 Radikal problem
Hi Charlie, I guess you mean, remove the trampolin feet (only) & replace with solid feet? I must admit i was sceptical about why a trampolin (springy) base would be better than a solid base, especially now as I have it sitting on a good wall shelf. However now I have a trampolin, I wouldn't bother c...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem
Hi All, I will be carrying out the modification myself this weekend. I would appreciate some help please: 1. From my local hobby shop I could buy Balsa wood or Basswood. Does anyone have a view on what would be best? From Google 'Balsa will sand easier, but Basswood won't crush. You can squeeze a pi...

Re: From lingo 4 to radikal?
Hi Henrik, I did a Lingo 2 to Radikal upgrade and it was worth it. 'Worth it' is a completely crazy phrase because it really means 'if you spend that cash is the sound improvement worthwhile for you'. Ideally you would want to hear your L4 and Radikal A/B and then decide if its worth it for you. But...

Re: Wife issue ...
Hi Jörgen Apart from telling the wife to leave the speakers to me :) ! If sticking with Linn, the difference I find between the Klimax Twin & A4200 is that the 4200 is more clinical sounding (yes its got detail and is crisp, but I find the sound a bit cold), whilst the Twin has a more sublime sound ...

Re: Removing bottom of LP12 (Urika 1) to swap RCA leads - No Jig
Thanks for that advice.
Would I assume I need to unplug the tonearm cable also, to replace the RCA's? Is that just a simple 'unplug' & then re-plug, or anything else I need to watch out for?

If you have a wall fitted turntable - lift out the board from its mounting spikes lay two sturdy pieces of wood across put LP12 back and proceed. Move the wood around to give you access is necessary. donuk sunny downtown York Thanks, this makes the most sense and I do have a TigerPaw Vulkan wall sh...
