how do you connect the three XLR pins to the unbalanced cable?
Thanks
I'm not Thomas, but I recall that Linn documented this somewhere in their docs:

Thx to Thomas for his clarification.

XLR to RCA cables or adaptors?

Hi there, as my dealer made a generous offer by the end of last year I ordered a Klimax Exaktbox Organik to replace my Akurate Exaktbox. As the KEB has only XLR sockets, and my amp (C6100) has only RCA, the connection is an upcoming challenge to be solved. I have the luxury to own 3 pairs of each Li...

Re: Advice wanted: Water damage to LP collection

You know that musty order you get when you walk into a second hand record shop? ...Well if I smell that in my house then it's time to move on, and wet record jackets will probably eventually smell that way and it can adversely effect your health with long term exposure, it's just not worth it. If i...

Re: Advice wanted: Water damage to LP collection

Unfortunately, some of the covers 'baked' together, before I separated them the other day Well, it was 2 am when I had carried the LPs, about 70 books, and many other things to other rooms, and dried the wet floor as much as possible. Then it was time to catch some sleep, as the next day was a worki...

Advice wanted: Water damage to LP collection

Last week a water pipe in my cellar broke. Unfortunately, I had taken most of my LPs from the living room to my study in the cellar some time ago. Ca. 150 albums which stood directly on the floor, or too close to it, got more or less soaked. Was anyone of you unfortunate enough to experience a simil...

Re: Cut your own vinyl?

An interesting discussion, which I just came across. Personally - and being a victim of my scientific education, maybe - I strongly trust the 'source first' principle. Consequently, if a LP from a digital source sounds different, either your digital playback system is significantly worse, than your ...

Re: Damping Feet

Yesterday I was out in a small boat with a friend just wandering through our harbor, when someone started playing Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. It sounded really good and was playing really loud; I heard it clearly 20 boats away. This gives me a strong deja vu, reminding me of my university yea...

Just to correct myself: Volume is controlled by the Exaktbox, not the DSH, as I read elsewhere.

I had a phone call with my trusted dealer, yesterday, and he actually has done an experiment: - old Klimax DSH with new Klimax Exaktbox - new Klimax DSH with old Klimax Exaktbox in his shop in order to validate which component has more impact on the perceived improvements. Actually, I had proposed t...

Re: Moving Coil Vs Moving Magnet.

If you dig in the Linn owners club on the Wam, you'll probably find the story of DavidHB, who was a big fan of the Linn Adikt until he eventually had built his LP12 to the Klimax spec and finally changed for a MC (I think a Krystal at first). I myself "stepped down" and bought a Krystal to find the ...

Re: What Exaktly does a DSH do in an Exakt system?

Thx Pete, a very interesting article! In the context of the DSM/H, then the precision of the clock appears to be the most important field of improvement. I recall that Linn marketing mentioned a better clock, but interestingly they gave much more room to rave about the benefits of their Organik DAC....

Re: What Exaktly does a DSH do in an Exakt system?

I heard that too Matthias, but it's hard to understand how/where the information is lost, when a digital signal is just passed through. The DAC part of the box appears to do so much more, that "dropping the ball" is more intuitive here. The Krystal upgrade of the Exaktbox was a very significant chan...

What Exaktly does a DSH do in an Exakt system?

Hello all, we have heard and read reports on the latest Linn Klimax DSM Organik, and I even heard one playing at my dealer. What I cannot get my head around: If one "slices" the DSM into a DSH part, and say, a new Klimax Exaktbox Organik, what is the DSH actually doing, to contribute to the improvem...

WANTED - Ku-Stone Bases for AV5140 (pair)

Hi all, I'm still a happy AV5140 (Espek Tweeters) user, but missed the boat when the upgrade bases have been offered by Linn. Obviously, family matters have been more important those days ;-) Maybe, someone has a pair, and wants to turn them into cash? I'm located in the North of Germany. Happy list...

I was told not to expect any new upgrades for the LP12 in the immediate future as they just did the large upgrade of the Karousel un...

I won't mention anything prior to my Thorens 126 with SME 3009 Series III arm here, which still revolves at a friend of mine whom I handed it down. Thank you guys! For sure, I will keep you informed once I'll have it installed. My dealer claims that the biggest improvement would have been to update the cartridge, namely a moving coil - Krystal. But I had second thoughts and I opted for a Lingo 4. And I have in mind (maybe next year) a Kore and...

The trade in program allows you to trade in an standard (Akurate) Radikal 1 or a Lingo (any version) for a machined (Klimax) Radikal 2. Credit for the standard radikal is $1300 and for the Lingo $795. At this time the trade in is only available toward a machined Radikal 2 which runs $8450. Likely t...

Even if the number under the bottom line is just a black zero, Linn might benefit from some soft non-linear effects. For example: - Customers who start upgrading one bit of their equipment, may be more willing to upgrade other parts of there system, too. - Improvements of the system might impress fr...
