Re: Any decent streamer?
I’m gonna have to put in an absolute internet classic, ie suggesting something that the OP specifically didn’t ask for... I asked pretty much the same question last winter, quite confident my computer skills were insufficient for DIY. But the advice on here was very clear - if you want truly good ba...

Re: Tune Dem of Headphones
That test method works surprisingly well. There were a few outliers that may have been unfairly punished by a poor fit on this particular test rig, but mostly it comes across as fair. "hifi" is sometimes almost derogatory on these pages, but in the true sense of the term I can't overlook that the So...

Re: Interconnects - original or not (split from Playground)
Yes, you are right OscarH. Many different things can happen making clips. Sometimes a changed setup has to play for a while to settle and do its best. Other slight changes can also disturb the comparison. I hear C as the original blacks and D as the QED interconnects having heard your former clips ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
My first impression was in favour of 2A.
Maybe there’s a bit more happening in 2C but the music is more direct in 2A.
Then, as usual, after 3-4 listens I get confused.

Re: ChrBea's system
It has been some time now since I have the current system and I just realized, I didn't post any pictures in here. So here you go: IMG_20190908_152914.jpg Very elegant. I like the monochrome aesthetic. A Two Tone album would have been even better :) Ha! I was just about to ask whether it could play...

Re: More Ears Needed
The few responses on this aren’t conclusive either. Oscar, There is only one solid response. The other is from some wishy-washy guy In need of good ears who can't make up his mind.. When I heard clip A on my phone, I immediately thought to myself; "Nice. A 1960 Les Paul through a cranked Marshall a...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Seems I’ve inadvertently opened a can of worms. Well worth opening though. A bit further info, the original pair is exactly 120cm barrel to barrel while the pair of unknown provenance is 122. A further indication on top of Ron’s impressive review that something’s not quite right. Hereby the two pit...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Brand new Linn Blacks from eBay? I would inspect the joints. It's easy to tell if they're originals or something else. In my experience, it's very rare for original Blacks to "go bad" (like some old Silvers have, for unknown reasons). Interesting theory that I hadn’t contemplated. Here’s a picture ...

That's interesting, that would be great ,when you have the time thanks. But what was the difference? Here's a couple of examples: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Qteh92G4sYAtH3bQ8 The differences vary considerably, as these illustrate. 1A and 1B I picked out because they really stand out. 2A and 2B I picke...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Your clips are the most enjoyable on this forum. The view is such a delight! :-) Whenever you’re in Copenhagen, beck! The view gives me peace of mind which improves the listening experience. But I’m also very aware that the glass backing is somewhat controversial. Different sides of the expectation...

Further info - I contacted the seller and he insists they are originals delivered with his Majik DSM/Akurate 2200 combo purchased in 2015.

Oscar, The cable on the left was stripped, soldered, and crimped by a semi-skilled amateur. The one on the right, a professional with proper tools. Ron The Mon I’ll be damned. Off course you picked the right one Ron. It did look sloppier to me also, but I wouldn’t have dared calling it. Very worthw...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
For completeness, a picture of the QED interconnect (I assume all here know a Linn Black haha). It actually comes across as a decent quality product. I got the Black very cheap off eBay after some bid retraction malarkey so I haven’t got much to “loose” from this comparison. Still, I find it very ha...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
An annoying question but worth checking - are both Linn blacks round the right way? Would be interesting to retest in a few weeks or months after some running time. It crossed my mind that we might be listening to a directional change so could be worth checking: the signal goes with the arrow in th...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Hi Oscar, it wasnt inconclusiveness I was referring to with the windows, rather that I thought both were flawed re musicality and was wondering if this had an impact. I obviously didnt know what the kit was or your test, but now knowing its Hakai, I would further advocate this as a point of debate ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
5-0. Probably don’t need to keep it blind much longer. discodave may indeed have a point regarding the windows - I do have a history of posting inconclusive clips, though this set actually appears to have resulted in consensus. 1 is an approx 8 year old and well used QED interconnect. Cost something...

Good morning, Some light entertainment to start the week - classic A to B comparison with a single difference between the two clips. Nice one! I can really identify with a (comparatively) human system that the entire family enjoys.
We have very similar digital sources...
Is it mainly the Hakai and Boazu that are new?
