Tundra Mono demo in Gothenburg
I was there, attending the demo. Fredrik did some comparisons with Tundra, 2xTundra and 2xTundra Mono. I was VERY impressed with the Mono's! I have also always been very impressed with the stereo version of the Tundra and believe that it's better than a KCT/B and KCT/D. At least in the comparisons I...

I've been doing a little looking around online here in the US and have found that the Asus E45M1-I Deluxe Mini-itx motherboard appears to have been discontinued. ... So it seems like we really need a different motherboard long term. Since the Pro version seems readily available I wonder if anyone h...

Maybe my LS NAS just had a bad start yesterday. Initial burnin is the worse of all. Give it a few days running 24/7. While that's going on you can fix the other things mentioned here. Since the LS NAS is so new and the most musical performance can be spoiled by even one bad cable or wrong direction...

Give it some weeks burn in. Please check ALL cables. It's not only the PSU that need time to settle down, due to my experience. As I have mentioned earlier in this thread I have noticed that the SATA cables have some burn in time. That's why I recommend using them for a week before trying to figure...

Lessons learned, trust the knowledgeable guys on the forum (Linnofil, Lejonklou etc) that spend time, money AND evaluate using Tune dem ;-) Linnofil informed me many moons ago but due to work it took me weeks until I ordered the stuff. Since then my system has taken a huge leap in performance. Than...

LS-NAS is up and running - all fans are still unconnected, hdd and power leds are connected, standard sata cables are used without checking direction. KDS/1 is running Davaar 4.75, which was the best in my system last time I checked. SATA cables, power leads, fan etc. all make a difference. So don'...

Before reading your thread, I did not think/believe HDDs would make much of a difference, so I only recently discovered that they make a difference in recording as well. In any case, already the playback via the 320 in my system is great. And the improvement is not small. I installed the 7 mm SSD v...

I'm working hard to keep everybody happy in this thread! I usually don't post this much here. But I feel I have to take some responsibility for my "creation". My wife is not superhappy with my new life in front of the PC. But I'm glad that my true music friends are. :-) Very much appreciated! Thank...

I've cancelled my PX-B310U and ordered the internal Samsung drive, to be used externally to my LSNAS. If I've guessed wrong, I only lose £15! Look forward to the comparison! Can't beat cheap! :-) Especially when it's good. £15 is not much to loose, so it's well spent as an experimentation budget. W...

The Samsung drive is now old and cheap, so it doesn't cost much to try it. Interesting. Using an external drive do you take the power from the internal PSU of the PC/NAS, or from the external drive's own PS? I guess the former solution could give better results, as the PSU inside the PC has been su...

Thanks Klaus! In my system, too, the Intel320 sounds great (Asus/W-XP/Firewire). Thanks a lot! I'm glad more people are discovering the qualities of the Intel 320, they are great! Is it good for recording also? Would be nice to know, when you have time to test it. I installed it a few moments ago, a...

Re: The Linnofil Super NAS!
The case fan (if any, it's better with a fan (80 mm F.D. S.S.) than without) must be connected to the processor fan pin header. Do not connect it to the chassis fan header. Linnofil, Can you please explain? The Node 304 case has a 3-setting fan controller, which I had thought to leave on the lowest...

So, yes!In an earlier post on page one, as a reply to SaltyDog, Linnofil wrote:Asset, Twonky, JRiver and Logitech have been tested, Asset was much, much better than the Logitech DLNA server. Asset was also clearly better than Twonky.

As for the A-Data RAM, ADATA-XPG-Gaming-Series-DDR3-1600-CL9-8-GB I guess that the 1600 version is overkill, my Asus manual (e45 deluxe)states that 1333 is maximum. The respective card is a bit cheaper, but in the overall costs this plays a very minor role, of course. Check the Asus board manual fo...

I'm not a cd guy but I use iTunes and rip to AIFF after comparing it to ALAC. I have not tried ripping with iTunes. How does it compare to other rippers, such as EAC? Thank you Linnofil. I've looked for a cheap 64GB among the ones you suggested in this thread (Samsung 830, 840 Pro and of course Intel 320) but it seems there's none costing less than around 80 euro. Just get anything reasonably good. (Intel 330 60 GB?) A 64 SSD is about €70 in Sweden. Well worth i...

The Intel SSD 120GB arrived yesterday ... it was very clear that the Intel SSD is the musically superior harddisc. I don't know, but I don't see any alternative. I think the risk is something we have to live with. Is it really true that the swedish NASs are built with the 'platinum' version? At least three L.S. NAS'es in Sweden are built with the Platinum PSU. The Gold may still be better.
