Moving Coil Vs Moving Magnet.

Which do you prefer . It's coming to the time where I have to get a new cartridge. My 3 options are 1)A cheap moving magnet (AT ) with probably Karousel added as paying someone ~£200 to fix a £30 cartridge irks me somewhat. 2)Trade in my Akiva for a Karousel. 3)Get Roberto in Italy to retip my Akiva...

https://i.imgur.com/hzS685q.jpg?1 There doesn't appear to be any easy way to attach grills to them? They are the sort of speaker that look as though they'd look better with grills on. Re: JBL 308P and 708P

I have Van Damme XLRs running from Kisto to 308s. Sound good. It was between that and Mogami but needing 2 sets of 6m cables the Mogami was too expensive for me. The Van Dammes were all in £40. Obviously I cannot tell which cable is musically superior but I am very happy with the performance. Now, ...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

Have you checked settings at the back or could your KDS be a bit ropey ? There’s a small gain switch. Not sure what it should be on though. I’d have to plug them back in to experiment. I think the KDS is OK because it makes the LS5/9’s sound pretty musical. I thought it might have a fault after it ...

In the past, Quad was run by a genius and ruled the world. Then Linn and Naim, who were also run by genii, ruled the world. Then …………. Lejonklou came about, run by a genius who is extremely detail oriented (understatement)... I’m beginning to wonder if IT should be removed from the list of geniuses...

In the past Linn always strived to make the best hifi product in the world.
In the present Linn strive to make the best hifi products in the world.

Nothing has changed except past customers are now old and dudderry clambering for the past .

jajo & Azazello, I’m not using “traditional” stands. They consist of an open metal frame with a couple of 75mm timbers on top to raise the height to 500mm! 😳 🤣 Regardless of the construction, they seem to work very well with Graham LS5/9’s, producing a tuneful, harmonious and rhythmic sound, but ad...

Ok. 308P are insanely good. Clearly better than TM/3677 (although I still miss them on some recordings). It’s nuts. My pair must have been more or less new, and apparently they need quite some time to break in. I have made some adjustments during the weekend, tightening some screws and adding nuts ...

Re: Crown amplifiers

The Boazu does a great job driving 3677s and then you don't need a preamp (not as good as SM/TM, of course). Probably a better budget option than the Crowns. +1, but as I understand the 3677 are sold too. Matt Interesting, where did you hear Boazu and what's your thoughts on them Matt ? Thanks in ad...

lets see but thats already the wrong focus (Charles Sprinkle wanted to design the Kali's to measure better than the 308P) maybe he was lucky and created a better speaker even though he had the wrong focus.
