Listened a few times - enough to confuse myself - but ended up with B&Y, myself... agreed on the lights tho' :)

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

I can relate to Naim pushiness too. Never tried Naim with my Spendors, but can say that Linn amplification was a bit warm but clinical, whereas Lejonklou amps with the Spendors were musically superior and matched nicely with the Spendor midrange, in particular, without any exaggeration. I appreciate...

Re: Ekos SE/1 cueing

It looks like Matteo shared the link because the image of the SE on Linn's website shows a black cueing arm, not for any textual reference to a colour change...
Their image shows a black support arm too, whereas your sondek pic shows a silver arm with black lever... Curious.

Re: Netgear Vs DIY Power Supply

Here’s the very latest version of the DIY power supply with the wavy 5mm power cable. I’ll repeat the comparison later using the 4mm power cable. https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B12G4TcsmucJZD3 Enjoy 🙂 A little more intimacy with the Netgear; a little more authority with the DIY ps. Enjoyed bot...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I was tempted to ask if you'd found a 5mm2 alternative... :D Interesting pattern - any reason for that? I can see that the cables cross as close to right-angles as possible, but they're all live on one side, and neutral on the other... Is that theoretically or empirically better than a loose spiral?...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I’ve added another option to the 4 & 6mm cables. You can’t miss them, they’re bright pink and yellow! https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B125qXGF1HNqUx6 Is this an update (further burn-in) of the 4mm or something different? It sounds snappy and, possibly, slightly louder than the previous 4mm clip...

Might be, but the lighting was good for this shot - shows off the plinth nicely (if you ignore the rest :)

I'll see what I can do... (picky, picky ;)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

B sounds twangy and cheesy like a joke song, and the percussion seems to drag... A sounds like a more genuine attempt to perform the piece.

I didn't feel there was a lot between them, musically. Quite a difference in sound between them tho'. Are they volume matched because Inner feels a little quieter, which puts it at a slight disadvantage... If I had to choose, on the basis of this one song snippet/these clips*, my best to worst would...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I would expect other reputable manufacturers cables to perform equally well, particularly the US standard cable which has a thicker “earth” wire. Edit: Now updated https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B125qXGF1HNqUx6 Enjoy 👍🏽👍🏻👍🏿👍🏼👍🏾😃 Nice improvement :) I hope you're right about the US wire - I sti...

Re: 4mm Vs 6mm Radial Power Cable

,. I’ve redone the 4mm V 6mm comparison. Here’s two vids using both cables, marked A & B. Enjoy 😊 A comes across as having more swing; B as having a bit more authority but a bit ponderous. Overall I'd say A is more musical, but there's not quite enough weight to the clip to make it a knockout.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

If serviced feels too lightweight I would go with unserviced. I cannot do without a kind of dense quality to the music. All this only because I am having a hard time hearing any meaningful difference in the way the tune is played from either. I hear unserviced as a little thinner, maybe more edgy a...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Thanks Vlado. I think my test was flawed. I'm gonna just use the serviced 32.5 with serviced and unserviced cards to avoid the issue with the phono inputs. Gonna get them both warmed up too. That should be a fairer test. Should make it easier to volume-match too: the unserviced sounded a little lou...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

:) Timing is so important to me that I just about prefer the Naim overall. I can relax and more easily make sense of the music whereas the Linn is taking more processing power to join it all up. But I am aware on some tracks more than others that the Naim setup doesn't dig as much emotion and meani...
