Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?
Anyone that have compared the 13 different beta and official firmwares in Davaar 4.50 and 4.52? My personal rating from best to worse (Klimax DS/2) 4.52.117 4.52.119 now release 4.51.113 4.51.115 4.52.117 is very musical and coerent, one of the best fw so far 4.52.119 is also good but slightly less...

Re: Katalyst
Paolo and I have made a comparison between KDS\2 and KDS katalyst. I have to say the difference between the two machines is HUGE, especially in terms of musicality and simple pleasure of listening the music. We have created a small playlist alternating between the two versions of the KDS. We heard b...

Hi Lemmy, I have installed windows 10 on LS-NAS with great results.Lemmy wrote:Has anyone tried Windows 10 on the LS-NAS?
More flowing, more easy to follow the tune.
PS win 10 pro 64 used, and need to be sligtly tweaked to perform at best

Apologies, I'm talking to myself on this thread. I've been testing settings with the earth bolt on both the KDS/1 & KK/2 and it's quite interesting. I've been using a setting of 2Nm on both but I've realised today that this seems to lead to great inconsistency in quality of sound on the KDS. I've t...

Some news about ram, torque and bios settings. Few days ago I took a new ram to try: Kingston KHX16C9X3K2/8X There are two modules of 4 GB each, the specs are similar to KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX tried by Linnofil. Do they have a similar run in time? As two individuals of the same species seem to have di...

I think ThomasOK demonstrates my reservations against this (super-NAS) approach. It might, at any time, be possible to put together a very good NAS, soon to be impossible to build due to that most of the pieces is discontinued. This can go on forever. AClose to a waste of time as I see it. If we co...

I'll be using a used E45 motherboard that appears to be in excellent shape and which I got for a good price. The E2K does not appear to be available in the US yet. Any other comments on the RAM - is the Kingston 2x4 GB DDR3 PC10600 1333MHz (KTH9600B/4G) still generally felt to be the best? Some new...

Today I end this project. It has sufficiently gained in quality to finish work on it. Thanks in particular to Linnofil to have pointed out the importance of this digital stuff - by my own I had never thought to care about it! - and the PC world is that large, that without a decent compass I just wo...

Re: step forward
Not much to say, pictures tell it all. A definite improvement. The aspects of congestion and lazyness disappeared. It is running 1 day only, so more detailed listening will follow. My personal conclusions are that standard PC cases are not well suited for music. Comparisons between PC systems and p...

I want to share with you a cd ripping experience with LSNAS. The results are very interesting, although a little smaller than I expected. I used two recorders that I own: a NEC-Optiarc 7200SA and a Plextor 820SA. Both are internal but I have them connected by running outside the case the power cable...

@Nicolav: did you check upside down? Yes, checked just now. On the other side of case there are no feet so I used four Linn skeet. As said a few posts ago, the condition of the test is not quite ideal since the other side the feet are of rubber. That said, upside downside sound more detailed and ap...

previously user changed bios, upgraded the firmware etc What differences did you observe between the firmware versions? Which did you compare? How is that related to BIOS settings? I'm trying the individual ports on the mobo sata. Swapping sata between ES.2 and 320 make 320 sound a little better and ES.2 a little worse. But relative difference remain the same. So the problem with musical performance of my 320 is still here... The interesting things are that sata port have diff...
