Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Never as straightforward with 3... For me it was 1 (GS108T) or 2 (Melco) each better than 3 (GS108T+Melco), so I focused on 1 v 2, only going back to 3 to understand the difference(s) between 1 & 2. With this song, to these ears, I thought 1 was better: more harmonious, giving me a stronger connecti...

A night for streamed consciousness so that no LP12s are injured in the welcoming of a new year & decade? Party like it's VM95 :)

I'd be very interested to hear a repeat of the comparison between the store demo walnut LP12 and your movingui plinthed deck again, but with an Entity... That said, I have to admit: my CFO, and bank balance, are hoping that the first 3 production Entity MCs in North America are already spoken for......

Re: The Mighty AT95E Becomes The AT-VM95E

I'm a bit late to the party but to me the 2nd clip sounded like a playful pillow fight with attitude, whereas the 1st was a smothering pillow with a brick in it... Ridiculous difference. Seems like I need me some of them new fangled alumin(i)um screws for my AT-OC9 (& an Entity MC) for Xmas.

I was going to say that I was more comfortable with 1, but since jazz makes me uncomfortable, that probably means 2 is better.

Obvious to me, given stated desire to keep your Axis for a couple of years yet, would be the phono stage, probably Slipsik in readiness, with a new VM95 stylus as a maintenance item. Otherwise keep enjoying the music, and saving for that LP12 when you're ready to upgrade from the Axis ;) Find the ri...

I wasn't keen on the Fazioli either, but the pianist certainly liked it... Watching & listening on the tv I thought the Steinway sounded just a little delicate; I preferred the weight of the Bösendorfer - thankfully nothing like Bose. Nice to have options, if not both Steinway & Bösendorfer for diff...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Shouldn't that be like speakers: the other grands should rolled out of the room so they don't resonate and influence each other in room? Critically speaking, each grand should be assessed in the same position, surely ... or they should each be tune-dem'd into their individual optimum position :D

What would we say of .. Evelyn Glennie? Where does their appreciation of music come from? Thanks for mentioning Evelyn... 1 step forwarDS; 2 steps Akubarik... :/ It's good that Linn reintroduced the DSs, especially if that leads to new Renews... I really hope they don't even think about considering limiting new LP12s to those with Urika 2, but I am surprised by the decision to drop their passive speakers. It seems like...

New clips! This time “Hakai” and Tidal as source. Two different speaker positions. 29cm from wall (previous best position) ... 29,5 cm ... Amazing what 5mm will do. Agree with beck that 29cm is the better of these two... Did you try any further out than 29,5 or was that limited to the '2 cm change ...

I'm not the biggest fan of Linn speakers, generally, but I preferred them here... The RKs, as they been abbreviated above, sound a little too RauKous for my ears.
