Re: European power strip

Ahh, this is what I have been missing. This is like when we first started posting clips. I just love when we have the same focus and dedication.
I have not changed my mind but it is your system charlie1 and your decision.

And no hard feelings at all :-).

Re: European power strip

Oh, got me worried now :) When you compare the opening twang of track 1, don't you find it seems to make more sense on the pre-1st clip? No need to be worried. I do not listen like you do. I use the musician within when possible. I find the musical timing and the "structure" of the overtones more n...

It is funny so revealing clips are. If it was my system I would go back to Radikal first :-). Just saying.......

Re: Boogie Factor

I think this question has been discussed a couple of times before. It's difficult to reach full understanding on a forum, though, as we experience and mean different things when we say Boogie Factor and other similar expressions. That said (as Seinfeld noted in one episode; now I am going to say th...

I am so glad that you posted the above reply Fredrik. My system has started to show signs of boogie+ again and I do not know how to stop it. :-)

All else aside: if I had to choose between two systems with the same qualities except boogie factor I would choose the one that boogied the most. :-)

Re: Boogie Factor

Some people prefer Valhalla LP12 to later versions, or Kan 1s to Kan 2s, often quoting that something was lost in later versions, the original had more boogie etc. I have a feeling I may have picked up on what they deem so important, although I'm not sure. My Ninkas were able to really boogie on so...

Re: Tiger Paw Tranquility

The quality of the clips change nothing. The Tranq is just another in a long road of failed attempts to "better" the Sondek. Are only Linn upgrades good? Welcome flatpopely! Thank you for making the clips. They are very useful. Read the link below to get an idea of why we comment your clips like we...

Re: Holographic sound the final frontier?

Thank you all for your answers! This has been some trip for me. I now feel I know what my system is capable of and I survived (I know the story u252agz :-)) but my ship wrecked. We all know too much messing about with connections into wood is bad. So I went back into my old lp12 box and found my 199...

Re: Holographic sound the final frontier?

Thank you for listening. I get your point and as I stated above the enjoyment of listening to the music as such does not get better but being able to listen to notoriusly bad recorded records in this new soundscape does have it's attractions. My first reaction when listening to my system after the c...

Holographic sound the final frontier?

After a slight change of torques related to the armboard on my Sondek the sound of my system has changed in an unexpected way. Musical timing and tune only slightly better but now with a clear trace of a different holographic presentation. Sounds are reaching out to me in front of the speakers. Soun...

Re: Upgrade: Katalyst or LP12

Update on sticking issue. I let a friend who has a Rega 6 turntable borrow the record's that was causing an issue. He was aware of which tracks were at fault. There was no sticking or jumping as he put it. Peter is coming to my home with another arm; I have also decided to upgrade to MC Krystal and...

Re: re-torque

Hi Mike. You have done the right thing using your own ears (helped by Thomas you cannot go wrong). I have only heard the skale via clips but they showed the skale to do the same thing wrong as the tranq. They both push the overtones of the music out of balance (out of tune). If your mission is music...

Re: Tiger Paw Tranquility

I just love the Tranq when it is not being used on the Sondek. Then the music is great! :-)

The Tranq clip is out of tune and the music looses physical punch (listening to the first set of clips).

No, I do not have the money. Family comes first at the moment!:-) I am searching for the right place to get my lk100 recapped. That is the cheapest way I can continue to enjoy my collection of records.

Re: My quest has ended

The biggest surprise to me ThomasOK is that besides getting the music right using the tune method has given me a sound (yes sound) from my system that is "holographic" and with no hot spots with too much bass anywhere in my room. I am amazed.

My quest has ended

What I only could hope for has happened. My quest has ended. I have found what I have been searching for. There is a direct connection between recorded music and live music but all too often it disappears on the way to the listener. The only difference I can think of now listening at home in front o...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Those Silvers are broken. It's not the first time I've heard and heard_of Silvers that are no longer musical. The mechanism is unknown, but some (it's a rare occurrence) just go bad for no particular reason. Don't spend any more time on broken cables, life's too short. What you can do is check whet...

Intersting. I also prefer the first recording. There is something fishy about those silvers! Perhaps get them re-soldered? I have had others on this forum taking a look at them and they seem factory soldered so I do not think that is the way to go. I feel so lucky now that I can enjoy all my record...

........... Maybe sell them and try another pair of Silvers. Yes, that I could do. For now I will just relax and be happy that a year! after I started this tread I have finally reached my goal. I have just put the cherry on the top of the cake by resetting the bias on my Ekos once again. It is kind...

Re: Upgrade: Katalyst or LP12

That would not be acceptable to me at all. Only if the record was wobbly. Dirt should not be enough to make the arm react like that. I would make a call to Peter at Cymbiosis describing exactly what is happening and make the trip again. When buying such expensive upgrades it should work flawlessly. ...
