Re: Linn forum down?
I assume that the new, web based, SO will become available in October and not before? Certainly no sign of it today. ‘troll Not seen anything yet but today I did get notification of new filters for Exakt 350's in Konfig Interesting. I’ll have another look later. There was nothing for mine when I lo...

Re: Linn forum down?
Is Selekt the new Akurate? It certainly looks a lot nicer. Interestingly, the report talks of a new SO too, presumably available in October to the existing DS owners. I wonder if they’ve finally cracked the need to tweak SO. Also, is it on three feet? Finally, is that what all the fuss was about? ‘t...

Re: Linn forum down?
The new product will be announced on Thursday. There will also be announcements of some product line changes. I can’t talk about any of them until then. The forum shutdown is partially about that and partly about the future of the forum itself, as Gilad indicated. I would imagine that moderation of...

Re: Linn forum down?
We have temporarily suspended the Linn Forum during the launch period of our exciting new product and upgrades, which runs until mid-October. As this is a staged, global launch, we want to avoid spoiling the launch for customers through early disclosure and discussion on the Forum Let me get this r...

Re: Linn forum down?
The only source of any leaks is from Linn employees, so this is what Linn should be looking into to stop. I don’t see how you can make that claim. All of their employees appear to have been tight lipped so far. Surely the risky period is when Linn start briefing the press and dealer network? Given ...

LOL, someone obviously reads this forum, anyway!
Well done, Gilad, that wasn’t too hard, was it?
(Interestingly, Gilad refers to “upgrades”. I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to booking that holiday...)

Re: Linn forum down?
Possibly, but they'd have to monitor the forum very closely and once the cat's out of the bag... Yes, at least this way they can feel they’ve exercised some level of control. It’s interesting that they’ve never gone to this level before and seem to have done a really good job of silencing both deal...

Re: Linn forum down?
I wasn’t aware of those Dynamiks being dropped, Bri. Bizarre. Given that Linn have the ability to build to order, I’m also surprised that they can no longer be ordered.
I also agree with you about locking down the forum; seems pointless.

Re: Linn forum down?
I have a vague memory of Ivor being made an offer by Sony in the early 90s, a figure of £25 million being suggested. He, obviously, politely refused.Turnip wrote:50p says they are entering a strategic alliance or just selling up. They are a teeny company who may find it difficult to stay independent.

Re: Linn forum down?
I didn't know they'd stopped selling dynamik PSUs or repairing KKs. Obviously the forum is not working for me as a way to inform customers. If correct, then that is very poor indeed. If you're someone that purchases Hifi every 10-15 years then that's pretty rubbish and not befitting of an £8k inves...

Re: Linn forum down?
Interesting information, thanks for the update. Perhaps the spectacular introduction is an official acknowledgement, and cure for the recently discovered Radikal motor and Trampolin foot design flaw. Rumours have it that Linn is launching a new series of electronics between Majik and Akurate, but n...

What you need is a rebuild of your Lingo 1. I just rebuilt a customer unit with the same problem and it is working fine. The caps on Lingo 1s are getting old enough that I have started to see problems with a number of them over the last few years. That is why I've started doing rebuilds. I don't kn...

I'm fairly sure that UK manufacturer DNM (Denis Moorcroft?) used to produce a battery powered preamp in the 80s. There was also, at least one to my knowledge, a Naim dealer that advocated running Naim preamps ( NAC12 and 32) from a 24v source (two car batteries!) rather than from the PSU built into ...

Re: New Klimax products and upgrades
The Klimax DS gets a new audio board with updates using all they have learned over the years of producing DS units. Older units will be upgradeable as well - newer units can be upgraded at the dealer but KDS before serial number 1189823 will also have to go back for re-machining. Again we as yet do...

There was an initial, small, batch of KK and KDS that came with Ivor T's signature on the front - that was a limited edition run. As far as I'm aware now, the Klimax electronics range is available in black.Lefreak wrote:Are the black units really a limited edition?

There is no magic in using different protractor's, just a matter of trading one slight tracking error for another. Linn's recommended 65 and 120 mm null points (Baerwald geometry) from the spindle distributes the errors over the record and I don't see any point in using anything else. Completely ag...
