Re: Boazu vs Tundra 2.2 (with various preamps)

With Källa or Axis as source I can take Boazu as loud as it will go and there's no loss of magic. If anything, it just gets better as it gets louder. Same here. With a little liquid lubrication, I can listen to Boazu at literally 100% volume. It’s pretty loud, but there’s absolutely no signs of dis...

Re: ThomasOK's System

Slight threadjack here, but are any of your silvers sleeves getting "goopy" and sticky as they age? I just happened to be inspecting my two pairs of silvers yesterday. It was quite difficult to unscrew one of the barrels and when I looked closer, the cable was a slightly different colour and had a ...

Yep. I’ve just received a CAT6a from them and it only took 4 days to arrive. The cables are great quality and very reasonably priced.

Re: ThomasOK's System

Thanks Thomas. I can imagine soldering Silver plugs being quite difficult. The Black plugs are pretty straightforward, however the Silvers are quite a bit more massive, requiring considerably more energy to bring the plug up to the right temperature, yet the cables are relatively lightweight which p...

Re: ThomasOK's System

Am I right in thinking you listen to the Silvers individually Thomas? If so, have you found differences between cables from an original pair, resulting in new matched pairs consisting of two red or two black cables?

It says: TP-link Archer MR200 v4

Re: iPhone/iPad Directly to Källa?

Do you mean using a 4G/5G router, Spannko? I use a TP-link Archer MR200 4G-router in my lab. It’s powered from a strip with 3 outlets that powers nothing else. An 8.5 feet Blue Jeans Cable CAT 6a connects MR200 to Källa. No switch is necessary, as it only degrades the music when inserted between MR...

iPhone/iPad Directly to Källa?

I don’t remember this being discussed. Has anyone tried using their iThing with 4/5G via a WAP/GS108 combo connected directly to Källa?

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks for the Roger Russell link Thomas. I found the article really interesting, particularly the designers goal of maintaining a good phase and transient response and the suggestion to evaluate the loudspeakers using musical criteria. How little things have changed in the intervening 65 years!

Re: Setting up loudspeakers for the best tune

Reading advices on the internet they tell you to place the speakers about 60 cm off the wall behind. I placed the rounded backsides of my speakers ca. 30 cm from the wall and to me that’s quite an optimum for the bass. The Tune Method: “Try (read: Tune) Again. Fail Again. Fail Better.” As Beckett o...

Re: Pete's System

Sorry Pete, I really don’t like the effect of the sound absorbers. They reduce your lovely musical system to a pretty boring audiophile system. The sort of damping you’re using works very non linearly. Off the top of my head, 50mm rockwool will absorb nearly all frequencies above approx 1000Hz and v...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I'm definitely liking the music coming through these, although I do miss the other notes. I have always loved Bouree and am big into Jethro Tull, at least up through most of the 70s. The bass has a very rounded, juicy quality that I quite like and the notes are easy to follow. You might want to loo...

Re: How we define "good sound"

Can't recall a concert that sounded so bad I couldn't enjoy the music. Most sound pretty rough. Been to some half-decent indoor ones though. I saw Elton John when he was being sponsored by Roland. He sat centre front with a Roland electric piano which sounded so incoherent/out of tune, every song w...

Re: Linn Keilidh Versions

The only change I have a clear memory of is the first tweeter upgrade, which I felt to be a significant upgrade in both sound and musicality. I’ve got a feeling that there was a cabinet upgrade too, which included the addition of a Kustone block. The earlier tweeters looked like Scanspeak/Hiquphon d...

I think they are sounding great. Maybe I am wrong by just comparing the volume of the speakers to the 3677s for filling a 50 sqm listening room.
Ah, ok. I understand. This is something I’ve wondered myself, but until I’ve tried them in a larger room I won’t really know.

Thanks gents. Re the bass unit position: tbh, it came about by chance whilst determining the optimal enclosure volume. Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Here’s another update on my diy loudspeaker project. I’m still only listening to one loudspeaker, and the loudspeaker is just sitting on the floor without any coupling/decoupling, and imperfectly sealed.
