Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I think I prefer serviced/serviced too.
Re: Karousel
The specs state 0.2 Nm graduations. So, for example, is 5+3 equal to 5.6Nm? Is it possible to set 5 + 3.5 to achieve 0.1Nm spacing? Or perhaps even better? That specification refers to the markings on the scale. The markings are spaced 0.2Nm apart. There are 9 notches around the perimeter of the ad...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Naim use locking DIN connectors but recommend that the lock be left loose and the plug not be pushed fully home so that the plug is free to move slightly. They used this idea in the design of their “floating” UK power plugs too. Has anyone heard the £100 Powerline? I think it uses the same cable and...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
It’s great to see how much the forum is appreciated by so many people, and it appears that this subject has struck a chord with quite a few members. I’ve even noticed that some people are now taking moderating into their own hands! So, there’s clearly a desire to see things change. If I may, I’d lik...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
I’ve been giving this a bit more thought over night. There definitely seems to be a problem which needs addressing, but what should be done? It may be helpful to look at what research suggests is needed in order for social groups to work effectively. Social groups are made up of 3 or more people who...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
Particularly over the last 12 months, this forum appears to have been the target of deliberate attempts to push on the boundaries of the rules which make this the most helpful forum on the internet. The value of threads is being diluted by prolonged, unsubstantiated claims which are on the verge of ...

Re: upgrade path
Do you mean the TDA1541A ? No. No typos from me on this. TDA1549 is correct. Give one a go. A CD player with a TDA1549. Cheap as chips and at least as tuneful as a Linn KDS. Any one? Surely some will be better than others, or are you saying that the worst sounding is still better than a KDS? And wh...

Re: Identify these speakers/Drivers. Are they Linn?
Just had a closer look. The gasket looks like it’s a foam rubber. Linn used either silicone sealant (up to 1990’ish) or a hard rubber gasket (after 1990’ish), and don’t forget that the B110 was considered to be the best 4” driver of its time, so was used by quite a few manufacturers. My guess is tha...

Re: Identify these speakers/Drivers. Are they Linn?
Completely different. It looks like a Kef B110, but I seem to remember other manufacturers making drive units which looked similar to the B110.
Probably best to ask Falcon Acoustics who bought the rights and original machinery to manufacture replacement B110’s

We found that continuous white noise worked really well too. Particularly when combined with water boarding and nail pulling, Once put to bed, we never heard another sound out of them. If you need any more parenting advice, feel free to PM me.

Re: Streaming service
The plot thickens. It looks like Spotify sends a playlist to the DS which then requests the files directly from the Spotify servers. This morning I discovered that a Spotify playlist was still on the DS and was playing with the iPad switched off, so there couldn’t have been any AirPlaying involved. ...

Re: Streaming service
Here’s the Spotify Vs Qobuz clips. https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B12GWZuqDuNCULd [Qobuz is streamed directly into the DS. Spotify is streamed wirelessly to an iPad, then AirPlay’d to the DS. This is the most convenient way of using Spotify with a DS, but not necessarily the best for sound qual...
